All Trade Ideas to Improve the Heat

My friend though of an interesting one:

LeBron for Dwight Howard

This one always interests me a lot. It makes a lot of sense for both squads.

It made a lot more sense before Orlando's midseason trades when they still had Gortat, Pietrus and Rashard Lewis.

I don't think it works for Orlando anymore ... unless they are desperately worried about Dwight leaving and decide they are better off taking LeBron's multi-year contract than trying to keep Dwight.

Gives the Nets the franchise tag with years on his contract they need and have been looking for. Allows LeBron to once again be the man...

Gives Miami and actual Point Guard and an actual Center to go along with Wade and Bosh. Instantly helps ball movement, toughness in the middle, and rebounding.

You're right that it would've made a lot more sense for the Magic before, but I do think if I'm Otis Smith the contract length is probably enough - if they're two relatively equal players why not assure yourself of someone who's there for a while? Maybe look into trading J-Rich for a serviceable center - say Haywood.

EDIT: To save myself from an all caps "The Heat aren't going to trade Lebron, IDIOT" comment I'll reiterize that I don't think it'll ever happen. But I do find it to be a very interesting thought.

Chris Bosh, D-Wade, Pittman, Bibby for Chauncey Billups, Amare, Landry Fields, and Turiaf.

Billups/Chalmers/Eddie
Fields/Miller/Billups
James/Miller/Jones
Stoudemire/Haslem
Turiaf/Stoudemire/Heat's committee of unimpressive centers

Billups gives them leadership and backbone. Fields gives them a versatile young roleplayer with range. Amare gives James a complementary bigman, Turiaf adds some toughness inside. With Haslem back, you have have a pretty tough lineup bringing him in for Amare.

New York would have Melo, Wade, and Bosh, almost like they never struck out last offseason.

Utah Trades: Al Jefferson & Andrei Kirilenko future 1st or Lebron James.

LA trades: Pau Gasol & Ron Artest for Lebron

Portland trades : LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Bating & Andre Miller for Lebron.

In the Summer Boston trades: Rondo, Jeff Green, & Ray Allen Clippers 1st for Lebron.

Lebron is the only out candidate in Miami! That's Wade county & nobody wants a soft jumpshooting 6'10 SF.

My initial counterargument actually was that Orlando would become worse and my friend's reasoning was exactly that they'd rather have 5 years of Lebron than 1 of Dwight.  I think this is a trade that actually would benefit both teams the more I think about it

  Kind of an aside, but if LeBron could have somehow replaced PP then a lineup of Rondo/Ray/LeBron/KG/Perk would have been almost unstoppable.

The lack of size is overrated. The reason why they keep losing is because no one is clutch on their team. All they need is a Billups or anyone that is all-star level clutch shooter, and they'll be all set. If they had gotten Ray Allen this offseason, it would have been game over.

Miami is just not very well contructed - yes, DWade and LBJ are two of the most dynamic perimeter players in the league, but the overlap each other quite a bit. Bosh is more of a jumpshooter than I originally though, they need him to be more of a post presence than he is.

I think the The Miami Big 2 + 1 were all hyped to play with each other as opposed to really thinking about the best way to win right now. I always thought that if LBJ wanted to win a championship this year, he should've considered a sign & trade to Dallas more.

Always though that LRMAM Bogut and Jenning would be a good trade for Lebron.

Miami gets a Jennings who is very good and wanted to come into the NBA and  base his game off Rondo's as a pass first PG. However the he plays for the Bucks who are awful and he has to score. Lightning quick and could wreck havoc with Dwade beside him.

LRMAM- don't know how to spell his entire name but he is a great defensively SF and could be the stopper that they need.

Andrew Bogut is a great shot blockerat over 2 a game and is a good rebounder too. Just solid on offense and wouldn't need the ball or whine like Bosh when he doesn't get it.

And the Bucks get LeBron to play along with whoever else they get in the 1st few picks (Sullinger?), which can give them someone to build around and will immediately increase their wins.
