There are def a lot of bandwagon fans.  Last year I kept getting killed by my mates for my undying love for the Celtics.  The thing though is that throughout the years I have def met and bonded with fellow hardcore Celtics fans.  We can differentiate the fair weather with the hardcore and we can appreciate their support.

For example, the other day I was going to a bar in Boston and saw one of my neighborgs in college that I hadn't seen for 1-2 years.  He was one of the guys that I used to watch Celtics games with.  Anyway, he sees me and the first thing the both of us thought were, how about them Celtics!

It has also happened with other people.  Guys that I know are diehard fans.  No matter what happens, regardless of when they;re playing well or not, I can always start a conversation about the Celtics and know they're right on top of things.
Baby Jesus!

We'll be able to tell who are true fans tomorrow night at the Garden.  True fans have seen this quote or heard it numerous times today and will boo the you know what out of Bibby tomorrow night, even if he did make somewhat of a true statement.  The fairweather fans will have no idea at first, and then the boos will come stronger as they join, since they do whatever everyone else is doing or what the jumbotron tells them to do anyways.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

  • Cassell, I am - Huevos, I use.
While there is a certain amount of truth in Bibby's statement (and it does apply to ALL Boston sports clubs - there were "lets go Bruins" chants in Fanueil Hall on Saturday night), it was awfully foolish for him to say this.  He's just bitter.

That said, the best quote of this thread (thanks for tooting your own horn bleedingreen) came from skowbball1999 on page 3

Cassel is the man, but he just turned 83 and he is in no way a better option than Mike Bibby.

Wow...  you dug deep for this thread.  Bibby would at least be a good fit on this team, age-wise.

I remember people on this board didn't want Jamal Crawford either. :-X
