While it would obviously be nice to get a more proven back up at the 2, I hope the addition of Jeff Green doesn't mean that Doc relegates Von Wafer into bench exile.  I don't see any reason why he can't be paired with DWest in the backcourt so Ray isn't run into the ground when the playoffs start.

If Green and West are healthy, then Wafer is a spare part.

Both Green and West are 20+ minute players off the bench with only so many minutes out there.  Green can play with Pierce (Pierce being the SG)

West can be the SG with Rondo at the point.

agree with wdleehi...  he's pretty much useless at this point.  once all the pieces are here that we'll run with into the playoffs, he might not even dress on the active 12-man roster.

Actually, playing VW at 2 gives more minutes to West at PG, which gives Rondo some rest. Well deserved rest.  I like VW in limited minutes. He has been increasingly productive for us. I like how he can attack the hoop, has a nice 3 point shot, and is unselfish, willing to dish and get the other guys either looks in the second unit. This guy has really grown on me, and hope he sticks. Oh, and he works very hard on D!!

Wafer's stepped it up lately, but I get the feeling our playoff bench rotation will be West, Green, Baby, and whatever other reserve bigs are healthy that day.  Wafer will get a few minutes but we don't want to lean on him if we can help it.

West is not going to be play 20 minutes at PG.  12 more likely.  Which means he will likely play around 8 minutes of SG.

Throw in the minutes Pierce plays next to Green, it is down around the 2 minute range.

Green and West are the more talented players.  They are going to get the minutes there.

Why?  That was the whole point of the trade.  We already narrowed our playoff rotation to 2 perimeter players (unless West is injured in which place we're screwed)
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

There aren't enough minutes for Wafer in the playoffs. He will eat garbage time and serve as injury insurance for Ray/Delonte. He will get a few minutes due to serious foul trouble, but that's about it.

Here is a playoff minutes breakdown: http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=45078

You don't want to play a playoff rotation for the regular season.  There are 25 games left and Ray is averaging 36.1 minutes a game.  If he can play fewer than that the rest of the way, how can that be anything other than a good thing?  And even if Ainge picks up Bibby and DWest plays mostly at the 2, there are going to be matchups where Wafer's size would be useful.

Coaches generally like to start tightening their rotations during the last 1/3 of the regular season. To get the team in sync for the playoffs. It may be less of a priority to Doc due to the age of his core players and the time they've been playing together.

I wouldnt call him useless, he has proven that he can provide a nice spark off the bench and give us some decent offense. also, his defense has improved since the beginning of the season.

Is he still or is West going to command 20+ minutes a night, backing up the 1 and the 2, as his wrist strengthens?

Not sure West will ever be healthy.
