When Perk was a Celtic, the consensus was that he was a good defensive player, a decent rebounder, and a decent shotblocker.

Now that he's with the Thunder, it seems as though he is the key piece to a Thunder championship.

He seems to have gone from role player to MVP overnight?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Perk...but for a player who averages 6 Points and 6 Rebounds for his career, he seems to be getting a lot of credit for number 17. They're practically handing the Thunder the championship now.

I think that Danny absolutely fleeced the Thunder. We got Jeff Green, Kristic, and a pick? I'll take it. Enjoy Perk's 6 points and 6 boards!

yea, you missed it, but they are going to build a statue of Perk instead of Bill Russell in Boston now.

No, but he proved to us last year just how important he was when he went down in game 6.  He helped us combat LA's biggest strength their size.

Without being able to trust Shaq and JO I think that becomes a big weakness for us now.

Wow, where did the "6 points and 6 rebounds for his career" talking point come from?  I've heard that probably a dozen times in the last 24 hours, and career stats are completely irrelevant.

Also, I don't think anybody has suggested that Perk is an MVP.  However, having a strong defensive presence in the middle is important against teams in the West like the Spurs and Lakers.  Obviously, the Thunder -- a very astute franchise -- valued him enough to give up two of their starters and a potential lottery pick.

Yes, you nailed it...the reason why a lot of people don't like this trade is because they really thought Perk was the MVP. ::)

I think we made out on the deal, perk is so limited offensively. We got enough above average defenders on our team, we needed offense
Andy Bernard doesnt lose constests. He wins them, or he quits them because they're unfair.

And correct me if i'm wrong but LA beat us twice with Perk in the lineup in the finals last year.

Perk didnt guarantee ANYTHING.

Perk guaranteed us a much better shot at beating LA last year.  It's the truth.

What do Shaq and JO guarantee us now?  Can they really be trusted?

Maybe Perk couldn't be trusted either?  Idk?  Only time will tell.

I will use this next time you deffend Zack Randolph Hobbsy

:D

And I know and love all Perk gives to this team, as much as his lazer fall, a stop worth almost the same than a basket.
So I am not sure but I think we can be better now if we are able to pick something, over the last 6 hours seems like everything is "sky is falling" and the imposibility of getting anything out of a buyout and how buyouts are other team garbagem that simply isnt true, now teams are dropping `people for convenience and not only because class.
If troy mutrphys legs are ok hes really as good or better than perk, every 2 3 pointers count as 3 stops.
so we have to be ready to check the Numbers.

First, the folks on here couldn't wait for Perk to return...and now they talk about him like he was a scrub. ::) Drool on the Krstic pick all you want...very soon the drooling will turn to rabid frothing.

Yes, we needed to make trades to get a SF...but Perk shouldn't have been a part of any trade. Period. I hope and pray we still win banner 18...but this trade just made our path a little harder imo...Danny plugged one hole only to unplug another.

Anyway, a majority of the folks here are very happy with the trade...so, I will refrain from any Danny or trade bashing.

Zach Randolph's present stats are better than his career averages, too, so you have my permission to quote me. ;)

I don't think the sky has fallen.  I do think, though, that Danny took a pretty large risk here, and I think his vision was on the future perhaps a bit more than the present.  I also think that the argument that Perk just isn't that good is sort of silly, since one of the very best GMs in the NBA gave up two starters and a potential lottery pick for him.

I sure as hell hope he's right.  We all say in Danny we trust... And so do I.  Let's just hope this move won't make us lose that trust.

They can probably be trusted more than what would have replaced Marquis Daniels if Ainge had not made any trades.

There's probably a better chance that the team will have at least one healthy O'Neal throughout the playoffs than that the equally injury-prone Delonte West will last through the playoffs.  Depending on how you feel about Avery Bradley, that may mean the team really needs to sign an emergency third-string point guard.
