Re: future vs. present...think of it this way. Who's more important, a refreshed Pierce, or Perk? Because, the fact is, once Marquis went down, we absolutely had to get a solid back-up for Pierce. In the meantime, we dominated teams without Perk this year. Now...I love Perk, and it hurts to trade him, but we need to (eventually) be a bit more objective about this. Given our system and our team defense, I think we won't lose a ton from not having Perk in the middle...you know, where he hasn't been for most of this season. Assume we get Murphy, you've got Shaq, Kristic, Murphy, and (some day) JO. That's not too bad. On the other hand, we get a huge upgrade at the 3/4...Jeff Green is not just a scrub. Dude can ball. And, we finally get to play 08 ball again, with Green at Posey's spot at the 4 and KG at the 5, like it was during crunch time in most of those games. Again, Perk is a major reason we've done what we've done over the years, but he really wasn't part of the success this year, AND you have to trade talent to get talent. and Jeff Green is the best player in this deal.
