I would rather have a one legged Perk that a 100% healthy Kristic. To say Kristic is better is absurd. Green might have more talent, Perk gives us a much better chance to win a championship. I just cant believe how underrated Perk is. Even if this trade works out, people will still miss what Perk gives us in the upcoming weeks, it just wont be the same.

Actually, it is not absurd. It is debatable. Perkins looked pretty limited to me since his return. Yes he a strong game or two, but I saw a guy who had no lift, had become a below the rim center.  When healthy, no one would debate who is better overall, of course Perk is. But likewise, Krystic was a decent center before he blew his knew out and has not been the same since.

Why do people think that our chances are hurt for 18? When they are actually increased significantly.

I appreciate the thinking behind this post. It's one reason I never understood why people thought/think Tracy McGrady>Paul Pierce.  You just have to factor in injury history when making such a comparison.

But in this case I think it is a bit misplaced.  if you look back over Perkins' career history, he missed very few games.  Its just this year that he's missed games.  Compare that to Krystic who missed many more games over the course of his history.  This year is the exception.

When you factor all this in, I don't think there's a way to argue other than: Perkins>Krystic.

But people are sleeping on Krstic. I think a lot of posters are going to be very pleasantly surprised by what he can do. Again, I'm not sure why everyone seems to have forgotten Krstic since he was the starting center on our division rival for like 5 years, but the guy can do more than just shoot offensively. He has a great midrange shot, but he's also very crafty around the hoop and is a very clever offensive player. I think he'll be great next to KG, he'll get a lot of easy buckets with KG's and Rondo's passing. Buckets that Perk doesn't finish.

The mistake in your post is you said "Even after his return from injury".

Perk has not returned from injury... the man rushed his rehab and got injured again, and is currently out for an unknown length of time.


A healthy 7 footer that can shoot where defenders can't cheat off him like they always do on Perkins, is much better then an injured Perkins who rushed back from injury only to get injured again...

You can't ignore the injuries here and just blindly say Perk would be better for us this year.

You realized that he is out a week because he bruised his OTHER knee right? This injury has nothing to do with "rushing back". It is something completely unrelated. 

Isn't the point just that he's injured?  I really don't trust Perk to stay healthy.  Both times the Celtics went to the Finals, Perk got hurt.

Sorry, but Krstic is nowhere near as good as Perk.  If he was, the Thunder wouldn't have given up him, Green, a #1, and taken on Nate's salary to land Perk.

You can't look at their careers.  You look at this year, right now, if you want to win 18.

Now.. even if that is a wash, or even if Perkins is better somehow this year (he isn't) then we still get an amazing back up to Pierce.

This trade is a good thing... I know it's sad, but it's a good thing.

The old truism in the NBA is that whoever gets the better player gets the better of the deal. Green is without a doubt the best player in this deal. Kristic is just icing on the cake.

In addition, there is absolutely NO GUARANTY that Perk would give us what we need physically for the remainder of this year. MCL damage in his "good" knee??? That would scare the hell out of me.

your title on this thread tells me you are missing the whole point - which is that the most important strength this Celtics team had was their chemistry and love for each other. they had a group togetherness and a shared drive (fueled by their shared pain from game 7) that was unrivaled in the league.

that on-court, off-court chemistry is what Danny traded away yesterday and it ain't listed on the trade papers submitted to the league office.

I know nobody wants to think about anything but this year and a championship. But just for a second, step back, and realize that we might have a future all star on our hands for the future to go with rondo, which is something great to build off of.
