Oh dear god can the perk worship take it down a few notches.

I haven't noticed any real differance with Perk on or off the floor.

Honestly I'll take Krstic or Shaq over Perk any day.  They are so much better with the ball that Perk was. I loved Perk loved the effort, But he had gaping holes in his game that really hurt us alot.

Presti might not be a genius but most people consider him to be good at his job and he had to trade Green and a 1st rounder and take back Nate's contract for next year to get Perk. He's certainly worth much more than Krstic.

As the injuries mount up with Perk and Nate being out multiple weeks is there any doubt whatsoever anymore that Danny stole the show with this deal.

Could have: injured Perk, injured Nate, injured Daniels, injured Erden, healthy Haragody

or

Could have: healthy Jeff Green, healthy Nenad Krstic, healthy Troy Murphy, healthy Sasha Pavlovic, healthy Chris Johnson.

I'll take the latter group every single day of the week.
When you make that comparison you're assuming that no other moves were possible, which isn't true.

Gody/Semih/Daniels could have been let go for Murphy/Pavlovic another wing could have been acquired (Anthony Parker was heavily rumored of course but there were others)

I hope people aren't still against this.

I don't think anyone has seen enough of Kristic/Green (or Perkins in OKC obviously) to have their mind truly changed.

Its going to take a few more weeks to shake out as everyone gets acclimated to the their respective teams.

Lets say they perform below average... they are still better then 2 people who are injured until the end of the season.  Is that correct?

If Perkins doesn't play again, certainly. But by all reports he'll be ready well before then. Nate Robinson had already played himself into a virtual non-factor. West was/is going to be taking his minutes.

Its also not just about this year though. Many people disagree over how valuable Perkins versus Green is long term as well.

I understand the trade, and I think it will work out (if Jermaine/Shaq can give us something in the playoffs). But I'm still not sure I could have pulled the trigger, Perkins was a great Celtic.

Right, so we traded 1 injured player who has an average chance of helping his team in the playoffs, and 1 player who was a non factor and injured.... for..... 2 starter level non injured players filling gaps in our roster we desperately needed.

Just seems pretty obvious to me that this was a good trade, if not a really good trade.

Depending on your expectations, there is a pretty good chance that you won't be able to judge the worthiness of this trade until after the season is done.

(Unless injuries completely incapacitate all outgoing parts for the rest of the season)

The only way this turns out looking bad for us, is if OKC advances further in the playoffs then us.

Chances of that happening aren't great.

For me it won't even be until next season.  One of the big reasons I will be in favor of this trade is our ability to retain Jeff Green.  If he leaves after this year I think we would have been better off with Perk

Even if the Celts win it all this year AND Perk is out with an injury for the playoffs?

Those are the biggies for me.  If Perk is out, it makes all the sense in the world to me.
Yup

To me if we win the title sans Perkins and get contributions from the newbies, it's a good enough trade in my book.  I would imply out of it that the extra depth was worth it.

If we don't win the title and its due in large part to paint play, then I'll seriously doubt the trade (this is under the assumption that Perkins is playing effectively this season).

Other scenarios besides that and it gets a bit more murky for me.

I think that in order for anyone to really call it a bad trade Shaq and JO both have to be healthy and productive in the playoffs. It's hard to criticize Danny for making a trade to give us one known healthy center when we didn't have one and we're trying to win a title this year.

I think if they're healthy it makes it a good trade.

Especially since the main thrust of this tread wasn't to get Kristic but Jeff Green.
