You don't trade away a critical peace of your team when you have a shot to win a championship for the future.  Idc if we wouldn't have gotten anything back in return for Perk.

If we won a championship it would have been worth it.

Chances like this at a championship don't come around very often like this.

Too early to tell.

We'll see what other shoe to fall is (see buyouts) and see how the rest of the reason plays out.

Their core is still in tact.  Its up to health, IMO.

I can just imagine the outrage now if we didn't win a title and Perkins walked.  ::)

Sorry, but this a bleeding green over reaction. He did not trade away Moses Malone, Kareem, or Patrick Ewing. He traded a career 6pt 6reb over achiever on a team of hall of famers.

You are correct...I am surprised at how some C's fans underestimate the loss of Perkins. Perks defense was a big part of the teams success in the playoffs. Fans will come to understand Perkins true value when the team goes to the playoffs.

DA and Doc made a big mistake with this move.

Well, they just signed 6-11 Chris Johnson from the NBDL to a 10-day contract!

Not to underestimate what Perk brought defensively but he was an offensive liability that didn't even play at the end of games.  Not to mention that we played extremely well without Perk for most of the year.

A lot will depend on Shaq but is he can stay heatlhy, I think we just got better and definitely more versatile.

I'm not underestimating the loss at all.  I still think they're are a lot of unanswered questions out there and this deal was done for several reasons.

Its incomplete in my book.  Too many variables left to unfold.

I understand the trade of Nate and Marquis, fans of them or not it's business but Perk, Semih and Luke?? I don't know. I don't know what his vision is or was but I'm not seeing it because basically we traded 5 players for 2, some picks and cash... which isn't much.

We have (maybe had) the best record in the East and I don't think we needed to shake things up this much because now you basically are rebuilding your bench half way through the year and hoping that all of the guys click as well as the crew they just had did.

Now we fill the team with d-leaguers and buyouts. I'm not seeing it so Danny... impress us... show us what you had in mind so that we can feel better.

I really think this was a calculated risk by Danny.  Measuring up Perk's short term health and his long term signability he decided it was in the teams best interest to let him go.  Assuming Perk would have been after this season, this move will have to be judged based on what Perk is able to do on the floor the remainder of the season, and whether he's available for the playoffs.

Not sure that makes me feel too good given Danny's record of signing free agents.

Despite what some think, the Cs were not guaranteed a title with Perkins.

Now, there's no question Danny has rolled the dice on this one.  If Shaq and JO aren't healthy for the playoffs, Perk is really going to be missed.  But if they are healthy and Boston can land Murphy, there's no reason to think missing Perk will be that big a deal.

And I think we have to see what Green can contribute off the bench.  It hasn't shown up much in wins and losses because Boston plays so well as a team, but you can really see the decline starting for Pierce, Allen and even KG.  I'm not sure you can lean entirely on those guys to bring another title home without getting the kind of contribution someone like Green could provide.
