C's got the best player in the deal, Jeff Green, so I like the deal but I'm not happy about the center position at the moment.
Is Jeff Green a better player than Perk?

Yes.

I have to say yes

We got the Clippers 2012 pick in the trade too!

Even better.

If that´s true, I´m on board
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I love Perk and am sorry to see him go, but I think some folks need a reality check.

Perk has only played 12 games this year.  I believe Boston's record in those games is 7-4.  He's started only 7 games this year and I think the Celts have gone 4-3.  The team went 34-10 without him playing a bit.  That projects out to the Perk-less C's winning 63 games.

The upside of this trade is obvious.  Boston gets a very good player in Jeff Green for this season and the next to ride out the end of the New Big 3 era, then can either resign him or let him walk.  It also eliminates the need to tie up 10+ million a year in salary cap room in resigning Perk long term.

The downside is also obvious.  If Shaq and JO aren't reasonably healthy for the playoffs, Boston better hope they don't have to face either Orlando or the Lakers.  I don't think missing Perk would be a determining factor in any other matchup.

I think were trying to make room to pick Dwight Howard this summer as a free agent.

It was in the Daily Dime Live chat. Hollinger's twitter. But I can't get the link because Twitter is overloaded right now.

Perk is a Beast and should have been a Celtic for life.

It's a terrible day for the Celtics.  You don't blow up the team with the second best record in the league with legit championship aspirations.   They are 5-0 against the the Heat and Lakers this year!!!

Sorry.  4-1.  but you get the idea.  Don't mess with success.

Tough to deal with cannot say I saw this coming. The only logic is that Danny felt that Perkins injury history and high salary demands were too much for the Celtics so he moved him to a Western Conference Team to compete against LA, DAL, and SA while we get a Scottie Pippen type backup to Paul Pierce. I hope we see the O'Neal brothers come back soon.

I'm pretty pumped about this trade. Jeff for this package is a steal

I will miss Perk, though.
