[dang], that sucks for Baron. From LA and Blake Griffin to Cleveland and JJ Hickson.

And to think... Baron was actually starting to show some actual care and enjoyment playing for the Clips.

Yeah, I feel bad for Baron.  He doesn't deserve this.  This is just an example of the Clippers being cheap again.  There's no way you can argue that they won out talent wise; they gave up a likely top 10 lottery pick and the best player in the trade.  All they do is save money.

I expect Baron to tank and be "injured" a lot on the Cavs the way he was for the Clips the last few years.  For his sake, I hope he gets bought out.  He deserves to be in a winning situation in front of a crowd that actually cares.  That's where he'll thrive.

This.  I dislike deals like this.

Incidentally, good way to keep your franchise player around after his current deal:  trade one of his closest friends in an obvious salary dump.

Yep.  This is why I remain skeptical about the Clippers' chances for success as long as Don Sterling is their owner.

Sterling can't stand some sanity in his team, huh. Baron had been a good soldier this year. Bad move.

..and in what world is Baron plus #1 for Mo Williams a good move? Baron for Mo was bad...the inclusion of a first rounder just made it a a lot worse.

I want to say this trade is decent enough for the Clips, but that unprotected pick in 2011 really makes me scratch my head.

Can someone explain the logic of this trade for me? Sure the Cavs get a first-rounder, but then they take on a contract like Davis'. Clips get scrubs, albeit cheaper than Davis, and they lose what was most likely going to be a lottery pick.

It's all about money.  It saves the Clippers money this year and next year.  They don't have to pay Mo as much, and they also don't have to pay a lottery pick's guaranteed salary.

So it's just another example of Sterling cheap-skating his team and his fans.

Good move from the Cavs.

Now see if they can buy Davis out of a little of the money.

This is not so hard to see. Sterling uses the Clippers as a tax write off (as he tends to lose money through the franchise every year, which works out as he is a billionaire). I have grown accustomed to the Clippers making these types of deals, and I only wonder why they signed Baron in the first place. Its too bad for Blake Griffin, he could use a veteran presence in his life.

Actually, there is hope for Blake now.

He likely will not spend his entire career with the Clippers.

I guess I should have known this was the reason. However you see a once in generation player like Griffin go to a team like the Clips and you think/ hope Sterling has the decency to build the team into a franchise that the die-hard clips fans deserve.

sigh.

Just make sure the Celtics have draft picks and money saving options available when it is Blake's turn to be traded.

Like every contract signed has a Clipper opt out clause.

Baron Davis to Cleveland could be absolutely terrible for the Celtics. Baron is from LA, he signed there a few years ago to go home. He was traded out of New Orleans because he kept feuding with Byron Scott, the current coach of Cleveland.

I’m betting Baron doesn’t report to Cleveland. They’ll reach a buy-out, Cleveland really doesn't want him, Baron doesn’t need the cash,  and he’d rather not waste the rest of this year and next in Ohio.

Gee, is there a team in LA that needs a point guard???

I’m praying he doesn’t make it back home to the Lakers, because if he gets bought out, it just makes too much sense.

terrible stench.  Sterling should climb into a hole and disappear.  On the other hand, he could redeem himself by signing Chris Paul after next year :D
