I can't see Baron wanting to play in Cleveland, and we know he and Byron Scott really don't get along (that's the reason he was traded from NO to GS). Baron's at the stage of his career where I don't think he NEEDS the money, I'd almost think he'd be more inclined to retire than go to Cleveland for 2 more years. He signed for less money with the Clippers because he wanted to go home to LA. I wouldn't be surprised if he's willing to give up 5-10 million in a buyout and Cleveland just wanted that lottery pick, they don't necessarily want Baron, if he is actually willing to give up some real cash, I bet a buyout is reached.

Edit: haha apparently Baron's agent says he'll be a good soldier in Cleveland, so maybe a buyout isn't even being talked about. I hope not.

Baron apparently reached out to Scott, and they have mended fences.

If Baron wants out of Cleveland, best thing he can do is play hard, and up his trade value.

Baron is a cancer. Clippers messed up signing him and decided to cut their losses. The Clippers do not need an erratic veteran who only plays when he wants to and who completely lacks professionalism.

Insert Celtics for Clippers in your last sentence and I'd think you'd be talking about Jermaine O'Neal.
When has JO ever not wanted to play for us? Have you been keeping up with the actual state of JO's knees?

Baron has been playing well recently, but overall, he has been a disappointed, considering his toxic contract and what he brought to the team. Was injured frequently, out of shape, accused of not giving a F and so on...I like that they rid themselves of his contract, but don't like the unprotected pick they gave up.

Also, It seems like they always try to dump important players for salary purposes, but never end up with a strong FA signing with them.

How has Jermaine O'Neal been unprofessional?

This deal is decent for the Clippers. Shed deadweight and the upcoming draft class is weak as anything.

Don't understand the Baron deserved better stuff either. He has been a huge disappointment his whole career, including and especially in Los Angeles.  He's been paid a large sum of money and hasn't lived up to it.
Again, to steal a poster's terminology....

I think it completely lacks professionalism for O'Neal to come to camp with 30-40 pounds of deadweight....

Had he been professional and come to camp in shape, I'm guessing it would be pretty indicatave that he felt like playing in this non-contract year.  His knees would probably feel a lot better, too.
