Miami is starting to realize how flawed they are and how badly they match-up in-game line-up wise with the other powers in the East, especially Boston and Chicago and especially at the 1, 4and 5 spots.

To address this flaw, and to underscore their desperation, they are apparently shopping around their prized free agent from this past summer. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/211295/Heat_Make_Mike_Miller_Available

It is unlikely that they will get a decent big for him, as there aren't many of those around, and none on a team which is ready to win now or the very immediate future (read next 2-3 years)and who will be willing to take on a 5  (4 left) year contract at MLE money, regardless of Miller's skill set.

They do, however,  have a better chance getting a decent pg for him, who will also be on a shorter contract, which will also benefit them.

Any thoughts as to bigs or points who could be had for MM? Camby or Andre Miller would scare me on that team.

I will laugh my butt off if Miller signs for significantly less to play with Miami than he could have gotten from other teams, only to see him chained to that smaller contract and shipped out to a non-contender.

James Jones surprising resurgance this year as a rotation player has made Miller a luxury for the Heat.

I don't know what sort of size they could get for him. I don't think they really need a PG that badly. I would getting a guy like Luke Ridnour really be worth Miller?

Did he have much bigger offers? I know LA was interested in him, but I don't recall him getting more money from any teams.

his contract makes him a terrible trade piece. no GM in their right mind would want him the way hes been playing and with 4 years left on the MLE. hes stuck there.

I think Washington were interested in bringing Miller back at a contract above the MLE. I don't remember any exact figures being mentioned though.

I hope this rumour is not true ... twenty games into his Miami Heat career and they cut him loose like this after he took a cut price deal to join them?

That is an ugly piece of business.

I wouldn't put anything past Pat Reilly.

Everyone thought this was such a good signing by Miami in the offseason and I had no idea why. Completely injury prone and he was like the 7th option on a Wizards team who was one of the worst in the league.

When he signed with Miami, Miller's agent said he picked them over the Knicks, Cavs, Clippers and Bulls.  Since those teams all had the salary cap room to offer him more than Miami, I'm pretty sure Miller left money on the table so he could take his talents to South Beach.

Bronson Arroyo anyone? Theo and Pat should do lunch if this goes down.

So we're supposed to trust his agent now?  ;)

Makes sense, I just hadn't heard of any offers with numbers attached to them during FA. Given how soon Miller locked in on Miami I wouldn't be surprised if the other teams never put a firm contract out there.

I dont know. To be honest I think his contract is quite alright. He signed for a bargain to play for the Heat when other teams were willing to give him 7 to 8, maybe even 9 mil a year over the same length. MLE for a guy who averages 13 points and 5 rebounds a game for his career along with 46% from the field and 40% from three while being a veteran presence who can play a vital sixth man role is pretty good for an MLE price.
