I wonder if Cleveland would be interested in throwing in Varejao and taking back Jermaine. I know Anderson might be out for the rest of the season, but let's be honest, JO may be as well. Anderson would be a great back up big for next season. However, it all depends if Cleveland is looking to cut salary or not, Anderson is a good player but the Cavs wont be competitive for a long time, and they might rather just start of with an open wallet.
AV is their best player, they aren't dumping his salary. They're only trading him for an asset.

Given our precarious position at the 5, giving up Semih for Parker is too much for too little in return. I don't think we should trade him, but if we go that route, we can get more for him than Parker.

Houston is desperate for a serviceable big man with upside and could be a good trading partner for us. I'm sure Semih + Bradley, who is equivalent to decent first round draft pick + filler could get us  one of C.Lee, TWill or Battier (who could turn out to be just a rental for us). The latter two are preferable given their ability to play the 3, but I'd take Lee in that scenario, and try to get the 3 somewhere else.

I wouldn't trade Semih. The Bulls won't trade Asik so the Celtics won't have to give up Erden. Daniels and 2011 1st rounder will get the deal done.

I value a first round pick more than Erden.

29th pick in a weak draft, I don't. Erden is 24 years old decent center with a lot up potential to grow.

Mixed feelings for me on Parker... Ive never really enjoyed watching him play and have never really liked what he brings to his teams.

No way I'd give up Semih for Anthony Parker. Semih has a ways to go but it is very, very difficult to find a big man who is even as serviceable as Semih is at this point in his career and he's only 24, with one year's experience.

I'd stick Luke at the small forward spot behind Pierce and live with it before I'd give up Semih on that trade.

I'd rather keep Semi.  Productive 7 foot big men are getting harder to find in this league.

I think we are over rating Semih just a little bit. Part of the reason he's serviceable is due to the quality of the players he's playing with. Any big in this league can produce respectable numbers playing alongside the likes of Kevin Garnett and a talented PG like Rondo, PP, and Ray. While Semih has shown tremendous effort on the court, I still have doubts about his durability. Also, his lack of athleticism will hinder his growth as a player.

If you could be sure that Shaq and JO will be reasonably healthy for the playoffs and Quis will not, I'd make the trade.  Otherwise, forget it.  Against any of the other top teams in the playoffs (Lakers, Spurs, Mavs, Heat, Orlando, Bulls), Boston is going to need size more than a back up wing that's better than Wafer.

He has the potential to be a backup center, I don't see him growing much beyond that.

I think Doc will go with three bigs before using Semih (rightly so), and I'd rather have a backup for SF/SG beyond wafer.

I feel they are talking with the pistons trying to get Rip and if not Anthony is the backup plan.

How the heck would we get Rip? They'd have to take back Jermaine's salary and more....

Funny, my window wasn't as wide as it should be so the side of "Latest Forum Topics" got cut off in my window. All I saw was "Celtics officially in the hunt for Anthony".

  Oh, well.
