Per ESPN's Marc Stein :

Quote
Anyone up for some non-Melo trade chatter?

Thought so.

We’ll fire in the tidbits as we get them leading up to Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET trade buzzer:

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge wasn’t kidding with his recent proclamation that the Celtics want to make a deal before the deadline.

The Celts, according to sources briefed on Boston's thinking, have joined their conference rivals from Chicago in pursuit of Cavaliers swingman Anthony Parker.

The Celts covet an extra playoff-tested shooter/defender as much as the Bulls, with Marquis Daniels out indefinitely and Delonte West missing much of the season so far. Yet it remains to be seen whether either of the two teams is willing to meet Cleveland's asking price.

The Cavs are seeking a quality draft pick or a young big man with promise in exchange for Parker, who’s averaging 11.5 points and shooting 47 percent on 3-pointers in February.

We all know we're not giving up Baby so to get Parker either Boston accepts to trade a 2012 or beyond pick or Cleveland lowers its asking price.

I'd give up Semih for him, but he's the only "young" big that we have who's tradeable.

I think they're going to have to settle for a low pick (2nd round?) and some cash.

Saw that too.

Can't trade Semi straight up for Parker, but Daniels and Semi works in the Trade Checker.

Daniels alone also works, if Boston includes a draft pick.

Yeah either way Daniels would have to go, he's the contract that matches up.

That'd also open up a second roster spot for another addition......

Yes. And that might be a good thing.

I think the chances are good that a big man to replace Semi will become available via buyout.

Door #1: Daniels and Semi

Door #2: Parker and mystery buyout big man

I think I take Door #2.

I'd make that deal too.  Semih could be a player in this league; however, I'll live with that if Parker helps us get #18 (and hopefully #19).

I'm sure Parker's durability is looking good to Doc and Danny at this point, but I'd hate to see Semih go.  Any chance we could get away with Luke a 2nd rounder and Daniels?

Will they really give that up? Give up Semi I mean....

Anyways, if the C's are truly into that, I SUPPOSE Sheed suddenly becomes a possibility.  :P

Semih plus Daniels for Parker is a reasonable consideration but only if you are sure that one of Shaq/Jerm is going to be able to be a healthy back-up center down the stretch or in the playoffs (at this point I am not so sure). Otherwise, Parker is just not enough of an upgrade over Wafer to loose Erden over (I am assuming that Erden is healthy soon.).

The other option if Erden is traded and Shaq/Jerm continue to be injured is to count on picking up a big off the scrap heap of buyouts or whatever.  I don't think I would role those dice.

Now why in the world would Cle do that.  Luke is worth nothing.  A 2nd is worth nothing.  And Quis is worth nothing.

I don't think Parker is worth "a young big man with promise."  Nate, or Harangody and a pick seems fair for Parker, imo.  I wouldn't want to give up Semi for him.

I wonder if Cleveland would be interested in throwing in Varejao and taking back Jermaine. I know Anderson might be out for the rest of the season, but let's be honest, JO may be as well. Anderson would be a great back up big for next season. However, it all depends if Cleveland is looking to cut salary or not, Anderson is a good player but the Cavs wont be competitive for a long time, and they might rather just start of with an open wallet.

Make it Luke,Quis and a 2013 1st round draft pick and I think that would net us Parker. Then we can sign another big for assurance
Can't stop, Rondo!
