BOS - JO + Nate

MIL - Maggette

MIL does it to save 11 mil off the last year of his contract. Plus, they might be able to buy out JO with his injury situation.

BOS does it to get a strong SF who can also play PF at times and could start if Pierce needs time off.

Bench

DWest
Wafer
Maggette
Baby
Shaq

and if Shaq's injury continues to be a problem, go after Sheed for backup C.

1)  Overpayed.

2)  3 years left on his contract after the Celtics worked so hard to have only Rondo and Pierce under contract past two years.

more overpaid than JO though? I mean he's actually putting up solid numbers this season.

Yes.

He earns twice as much and plays little to no defense.

He is suppose to be payed for being this great offensive player, but on a team that needs scoring, he averages 13 points a game.

If JO can come back and play C in the playoffs, he is worth the MLE.

Magette's game is to ignore teammates, put his head down and explode to the rim to repeatedly attempt to get points from the line.  No thanks to a second year Tony Allen minus the best part- the defense.

And yes, he is grossly overpaid.

But at least is is an "if".

Unlike Magette where there is no if.  He will not play defense.

He's averaging 13 points a game and 3.9 rebounds while shooting just 45% from the field and 35% from the 3 line. thats about 5 or 6 less points than he usually averages, plus hes doing this while making 10 million a year... i would say thats much more overpaid.

Pierce would knock him out 10 minutes into the 1st practice. He is a rare guy who is actually a negative on the defensive end. Hes so bad at defense he can't even be neutral, its a 6 on 4 everytime hes on defense because he manages to help the other teams' offense.

I posted this on the Prince thread, but it's much more appropriate here.

Weak defender historically, but he does have the athletic ability to be a good defender if he buys into our system. My question on him, for our club, would be offensively. He's always been known for taking a lot of shots and being the type of player that kills ball movement. That said, he's a slasher of the first order and gets to the line a lot. Our jump shooting squad could use his slashing, but only if he would adjust his style to our system.

Speaking of the Bucks, they do have a few swingmen that I wouldn't mind adding.

In order of preference:

1. Delfino
2. Douglas-Roberts
3. Luc (who has been brought up on this board before)

Maggette's averaging 13 points with 4 boards and 5 FTAs in 23 minutes a game.  He averages more FTAs than anyone on our team and he's coming off the bench.  His FG% is low, but it doesn't really matter; his ability to draw fouls makes him a very efficient scorer.

I'd be all over acquiring him if it wasn't for that fat salary in 2012, and I'm tempted even with it.  It's not like the team is hurting for defense.  We're a mediocre offensive team.  We have 3 highly efficient scorers who cease to be efficient when they don't get a lot of TLC from a PG who can't shoot; after that we have two inefficient chuckers (Nate and Baby; 3 if you count Wafer) a lot of big men who need shots created for them.  Maggette would be major boost.
2016 CelticsBlog Draft: Chicago Bulls

Starters: Rubio, Danny Green, Durant, Markieff Morris, Capela
Bench: Sessions, Shumpert, G. Green, T. Booker, Frye
Deep Bench: CJ Watson, H. Thompson, P. Zipser, Papagiannis, Mejri

I think Maggette would be great. What happens to contracts if there's a lock out and/or change to the collective bargaining agreement? Are players with LT deals allowed to renegotiate?
