Ray played poor defense on Kobe several times in the second half. Fouled in isolation situations or forced a foul later.

He also missed a bunch of pull up shots, though they kept bumping him low after he elevated but no call.

Overall I don't think he played much better than KG, though slightly better than Pierce.

I can asure you that nobody but you will be thinking about the C's losing to the Lakers in a regular season game when menitioning Ray Allens record.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous posts ive seen on these forums.

Sorry I will unfortunately.  I'm a Celtics fan and Ray Allen fan because he is on the Celtics.  I'll always have to remember now that the night Ray broke the record we lost to LA.

Just reality.

Did you know Michael Jordan once scored 63 points in a playoff game?

You're hanging out on an NBA website, so probably you did.

Did you know Jordan's Bulls LOST that game?

You're hanging out on a Celtics website, so probably you did.

But I bet every non-Celtic fan you know has forgotten.

The vast majority of the raves about Jordan's 63-point performance never mention that it was a losing effort. There's gushing about the individual achievement, how he was "God disguised as Michael Jordan." There's that NBA2K11 ad where Rondo gets told "Jordan's dropping 63 on the Celtics" again-- and Rondo acts owned instead of answering "and the Celtics will win anyway again."

Basketball isn't usually about personal achievements. Ray happened to have one that spanned many games and culminated last night.

Next week, next season, and in ten years that will still be held up as a benchmark.

And, yeah, Lakers fans will say "but the Celtics lost that game." No one will listen to them anymore than anyone listens to you when you say "but the Bulls lost that game."

You don't blow a 15 point lead at home.

We didn't finish the 2nd quarter right and that cost us the game.

We're a beat up team right now but we're at home and we're suppose to win home games against anyone.

I don't see it as the other guys letting Ray down....

I see it as every Celtic let each other down.

That's two p--- poor games in a row....not good enough.

Rondo, Paul, and KG horrible tonight.  Ray was the only one who played halfway decent.

Really puts a damper on Rays record  (Forget what I said earlier obviously it was an overreaction).

Didn't Ray let down the rest of the big 4 when he got into foul trouble when they were shorthanded?

The C's lost because they had no bench and had to overplay all the starters. Notice that the starters had to play the whole 4th quarter while Kobe rested until the midway point.

Had we had a bench, I'm quite confident that the C's win this one.

The good news, is that Delonte's almost back, Shaq truly could play right now, and Nate seems to be OK.

My point is I didn't see the effort out of Paul, Rondo, and KG that I would have liked to trying all they could to get Ray a win in the game he got the record.

I didn't see a good effort really out of anyone to be honest.

Oh well... On to Miami.

While I don't think this applies to the LA game since it was so big, I do think that some of the other recent losses can be blamed on motivation.

While it's nowhere near as bad as last year, I do question how much the C's rather conservative injury policy affects the players.  Doc has already said that if it was the playoffs, Shaq would be playing.  Danny or Doc have said similar things about Delonte, as well as KG and Rondo during parts of their absence.

Do I support this policy?  Yes.  But I can't imagine this doesn't affect the players when management is basically holding players out because regular season games aren't important enough to jeopardize further injury.
