You know...is there any other team with people talking as though they can sign and/or lure any player they want?

Our fans talk that way about our team.

LOL - The difference is that our team would sign Melo in 2019.

Ditto.
The Lakers would get the best player in the deal (Melo) but Bynum's absence would really hurt.  I'd also look forward to the drama of Melo in LA.

Melodrama  ;D ;D

Very well done. +1.
Celtics fan for life.

While I like the pun, I am not sure Melo would bring too much drama.  In general, I don't think he has brought much drama at all.

All the stuff that is going on now is out of his hands.  He basically just told Denver that he wasn't going to resign there, and everything has taken off.  Compared to the average NBA star, I actually get the impression that Melo is pretty low maintenance.

Agree with Chris on this.  All Melo has done is told Denver he isn't going to sign the contract they offered.  This gives Denver a chance to get something for him.

This whole Laker rumor was probably manufactured by Denver anyway.

A somewhat interesting update to the on-going Melo trade situation

Those close to the situation say there is a better-than-average chance Anthony will not be dealt until after the season. But that option isn't the best way to collect a significant amount of future assets for the forward. Yet, if the Nuggets are going to get something similar now to what they could get in the offseason, they will opt to keep the team intact and see what it can do in the playoffs.

The situation to keep an eye on is with the New York Knicks. If, as the New York Daily News reported Tuesday, owner James Dolan is getting more involved, that means he wants to speed up the process, with the Knicks seemingly willing to part with more than just swingman Wilson Chandler to get a deal done.

From the sounds of that, Denver currently isn't being offered anything from NY that will beat the Knicks summer offer so they are likely to keep Anthony until then and trade Carmelo to the Knicks after free agency opens.

Also, the Knicks owner might be willing to make Landry Fields available. So a Knicks offer of Wilson Chandler + Fields + either A.Randolph or a first round pick from another team + E.Curry's expiring contract + possible cap savings (say Azubuike and change for A.Harrington) ... looks like it might be on the table shortly.

If NY offers that, I think Denver should take it but then again I am a much bigger believer in Anthony Randolph's potential than most.
