I think the C's face a very tough decision; do they want to keep Perk or BBD?  They probably can't afford to keep both.  The intial offer may have just been to test the waters; if Perk was willing to accept that amount, there would be enough for BBD also.

I guess the big difference is Perk is a starter on this team while BBD can't be until KG is gone.  But I can see BBD getting bigger offers on the open market than Perk.

I'm a little confused. Is there a limit to what the C's can offer Perkins right now? If so what can they offer him?
is it: Total: 4 years, $23,433,046.14?

I can't at all.

I don't know if you saw the CSNNE article about Perk and the offer.  His response to the reports of the $30 million offer make me think that he will re-sign for a reasonable amount.

Quote
An earlier report by the Boston Herald cited two unnamed sources that indicated Perkins turned down a contract extension that was for four years and worth slightly less than $30 million.

"That wasn't it. They offered me four years, but it was closer to like $22 million," Perkins said. "You talking four years, $30 million! Shoot, that's different. That's a big difference."

The article also said that the offer was made before it was known whether or not Perk would be able to return from the injury.

Perk has said that he can't picture himself playing anywhere else and he wants to stay in Boston.   If Danny makes a decent offer - say $8 mil a year, I think Perk will have no problem with it.

Perk is young and still improving every year.  Danny couldn't replace Perk for any less than that and get anywhere near the value.
