IMO, the Mavs have been the best team in the West all season. They've beaten just about every top tier team that's been put in front of them. If the Lakers don't make it to the finals it will most likely be the Mavs.

I think the Spurs will if they somehow remain healthy otherwise you could be right.

I think there's some truth to this.  I think the C's destroy them in a 7 game series, but Dallas is a very high percentage shooting team.  If you don't play solid D on them for 48 mins they will shoot you out of the building (saw it in the 1st qtr last night which set the tone for the game, saw it last year when they came out the 2nd half and ended up manhandling us at home)

On top of that I think Dirk gives the C's fits like no other player in the league, save for Bogut, Turkoglu used to, maybe a few others.  I feel like it goes under the radar but he always seems to kill us at least in recent memory.

Don't forget that Dallas was a game away from a championship a few years ago.  That series loss led to a huge downward spiral for them, losing against GS in the first round the next year.

I don't think the Mavs can overcome all the hatred that the refs have for them like we can.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

This.  If there's one player in the league that KG can't guard, it's Dirk.  He has also really improved - in the past he would settle for jumpshots rather than attacking the rim or seeking contact, but now that's no longer the case.  He's much tougher, and he's a matchup nightmare.

First off, I don't think 2 wins by 4 points is having our number.  The Mavs match up well against us but the games could have easily gone the other way too.

IMO, the Mavs have been the best team in the West all season. They've beaten just about every top tier team that's been put in front of them. If the Lakers don't make it to the finals it will most likely be the Mavs.

I picked the Mavs as the biggest threat to LA earlier in the season, but without Butler I just don't know if they'll have the firepower to stop them.  They've got a real shot though.

Dallas is a good team, and played well last night, but the Celts choked that one away.  Boston was up 6 with 2:45 left, which should have pretty much been game over.

Yup.

Dallas doesn't have our number.  We just couldn't seal the deal last night.
In both games the C's have had the lead late and just gave up late runs.

They're a good team, but I'm not concerned about potentially facing them in the Finals.

I don't know, one-on-one Dirk doesn't get great looks on KG. They are usually off-balance baseline fades. One play late in the game that Dirk scored on was after KG shut him down, Dirk passed out and lost KG on a little curl. KG just misread the play. He can defend Dirk good when the guards aren't getting beat like they had been. Barea, Terry, and Kidd were causing problems just as much as Dirk.

Against this Dallas team, our backcourt needs to stay with their's and limit their penetration, which leads to wide-open looks.

We missed shots we normally make, and let them get easy looks we normally wouldn't. A big guy like Shaq and a defender like West make them a lot easier to beat. And a Paul Pierce sighting definitely helps.

I care more about Miami and Chicago getting another L closer to us (and one more away from San Antonio) than losing to Dallas again.

I don't think any team really has the C's number.  I think there are teams that present tough matchup problems: Dallas, SA, Lakers, MIami mostly but no one that presents an insurmountable challenge to the C's if they're completely healthy.  Or at least have 12 of their top 13 players available.

Dallas has had the good fortune to hang with the C's when they've been lacking one or more of their rotational centers and they're backup swing guard.

In Dallas Celtics led 85-80, lost 85-87.
In Boston Celtics led 97-91, lost 97-101.
I believe we can win in 5 games in playoffs, but its not important since Mavs can get by Spurs or Fakers.
Does anyone knows Shaq's status for Magic game?

The Hawks had our number a while back, so did Washington. Bobcats, too, if I recall correctly. I am still confident that if we're healthy, no team will be able to beat us in a seven game series. We gave the game away and lost to a very good basketball team. No big deal, really. I'll be very surprised if the Spurs and the Lakers don't meet in the WCF.

Also, I am calling a win tomorrow. Yes, it feels good to be an optimist.

Go Celtics!

Completely agree (TP) ... we're still missing key players, and we gave this one away with poor decisions and turnovers in the last few minutes ... Mavs don't scare me at all, (unless we're even more injured than we are now).

I didn't get to watch the Celtics-Mavericks game last night because my cable went out inexplicably. It is unfortunate that we let the beat us in the end like that and kinda disturbing that they were able to find a winning formula against us during this year's regular season.

Thankfully we have been able to defeat teams after losing to them earlier in the season (Toronto Raptors Detroit Pistons) so it wouldn't be impossible for us to beat the Dallas Mavericks if we had to face them again for some reason this year.

Lets hope that the Boston Celtics learn from the Mavericks games. I mean it's not like last season where we lost to the Atlanta Hawks four times... ::)
