  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
PG:Deron/Farmar
SG:Salmons/Bell
Sf:Rashard/Artest
PF:Millsap/Collison
C:Hickson/Shaq/Jermaine

Definitely like how the trade of Josh Smith worked out.  Got a terrific rebounder and scorer in Millsap, and a vet defender in Bell.

I think Right now, my starting 5 would be incredibly tough to defend.  Deron and Salmons can create their own shots and create for others.  Rashard Spreads the floor, and both my Bigs are active and can finish around the rim.

The Memphis Grizzlies are only concerned by Deron.

Thats your choice and we welcome it as the other 4 drop 60.

What I was saying is that the only tough cover for us is Deron, we feel comfortable going one-on-one with every other player you have.
JJ Hickson is a tough cover for Marc Gasol. Too quick.

Yeah, but doesn't Marc Gasol make him look kinda silly on the other side too?

Agreed, although I still didn't like the Rashard pick. The biggest single thing that held Minnesota back was picking Rashard over a better player.

Oh sweet irony...how can something taste so metallic, yet so sweet?

Haha.  I've had Rashard in three of these drafts now, and thought he made sense on each team.  However, I consistently had him playing SF, rather than PF.  I think the number of players that Rashard can play beside effectively as a PF is limited.

I'd love to see the three T'Wolves teams side-by-side.

PG - Jameer Nelson to Deron Williams to Deron Williams
SG - Tayshaun Prince to Arron Afflalo? to John Salmons
SF - Paul Pierce to Paul Pierce to Rashard Lewis
PF - Rashard Lewis to Josh Smith to Paul Millsap
C - Joakim Noah to Nick Collison to JJ Hickson

Is that right?

It was

Jameer        /  Deron     /  Deron
Tayshaun      /  Afflalo   /  Salmons
pierce        /  Smith     /  Rashard
Rashard       /  Rashard   /  Millsap
Noah          /  Shaq      /  Hickson

Team 1 is easily the best team.

Agreed, although I still didn't like the Rashard pick.  At that point, Minnesota gave itself three SFs, which I think was the beginning of the end.  As I recall, Minnesota did okay in the Prince deal, but the biggest single thing that held Minnesota back was picking Rashard over a better player.

ya it was one of those things where I had Rashard pencilled in as a guy that i wanted on my team from the begining.

For a while my starting 5 was going to include

Jameer
SG
Rashard
Bosh
Noah

and I loved that team.  And then when i got pierce I had still convinced myself i should get rashard.

Eh, if I believed in Hickson's ability to assert himself as an offensive player then I'd be worried, and I'm perfectly happy having Gasol cover Millsap (who is not fast at all) and allow Bass to cover Hickson. Also, Javale off the bench helps.

Latest trade is now official. New roster:

PG: Nash
SG: Afflalo
SF: Ariza
PF: Nene
C:  Jordan

Bench: Chalmers, Mayo, Casspi, Villanueva, McDyess, Clark

CV comes off the bench at PF, moving Nene to C. McDyess will also see minutes at PF or C, depending on matchups.

Chalmers may steal Mayo's minutes at the backup PG. He could be expendable at this point, although I do need a scoring SG off the bench.

I think you're one more trade away from being a contender.

Combining Jordan, Mayo, Casspi, and Clark for an elite PF and a couple glue guys for the bench?

That would be an interesting change.

Easier said than done. I would love to get Scola from Champ, but I believe he is untouchable.

I think you should start Brand at C, along with Blatche. Despite all his flaws, he is still probably your most talented big, offensively-speaking. Ben Wallace can play 20 a night backing up the PF and C.

Can Posey play the three? Or is he now a small 4?

Anyone else going to see minutes at SG? Curry?

Only 10 players?

I disagree, I would start Ben Wallace but I am not sure alongside whom.

Not sure whether a Brand + Big Ben or a Blatche + Big Ben combination will work better. Additionally, I like the idea of Brand as a sixth man and I am unsure how Blatche would respond to a demotion to the bench.

I think the team needs Ben Wallace's defensive ability in that starting lineup. That is why I'd keep him there. Often playing against the opposing team's best offensive big man with Brand or Blatche taking the lesser threat. I would only play Ben Wallace somewhere around 20 minutes a night as a starter though with Brand and Blatche taking 30 apiece and BBD picking up the leftovers (15+ mins).

So in the end you managed to move both Melo and Nene. But have left the Nuggets with less talent at the top - Anthony, Billups, Hilario versus Jackson, Curry, Brand - and very thin on the wings.

Great front court depth though. And I'd expect strong team chemistry - with plenty of right-way veterans around your less focused players. I do suspect that Who is right, that Andray likely sulks on the bench - but maybe the Nuggets live with an unhappy Blatche? Since I can see him being outplayed on the practice courts most days by a trio of guys with less length and athleticism but a lot more urgency.

Any thought to starting Curry as a ball-handling two? He might struggle defensively, but Jackson or Hill could handle the tougher wing scorer. While the move would fee up Curry to look for his own shot more, clear some playing time for Flynn, and create a more sensical swing rotation.

Fisher/Flynn
Curry/ Hill
Jackson/ Posey
Brand/ Davis
Wallace/ Blatche

Hill's ball handling and feel for the game also benefit a second unit often plagued by poor decisions.
