PG: Jose Calderon
Wing 1: Rudy Gay
Wing 2: Luol Deng
PF: JaVale McGee
C: Marc Gasol
JaVale McGee is a sticking point for me. I struggle with the idea of him at the four and what he is able to contribute. My expectations for him there are pretty low.

I think that would be a good team with a true PF with quickness who plays above average defense. Say a Serge Ibaka type. I think that starting five (with Ibaka in McGee's place) could be the core to a 47-50 win team. A strong bench and it could be a 50+ win team.

I agree that I'm not sure how I see McGee guarding stretch 4's and also how he fits into the offense.  I think Ibaka would be a better fit.  But I strongly disagree that team would be a 47-50 win team with Ibaka.  Calderon, Gay, Deng, Ibaka, and Gasol??  Is that team really 4-7 wins better than the current Grizzlies (on pace for about 43)?  I don't think so.

Calderon or Andre Miller would have been perfect.  One of them should be available by trade!

How about the 2011 Pick Two NJ Nets:

PG:  Aaron Brooks
SG:  Eric Gordon
SF:  Shane Battier
PF:  Derrick Favors
C:   Brook Lopez

Team is built for the future, but still looking to put some butts in our seats in the present.  Current payroll = $29.1 million.  Hoping to stack up on $$$ and be able to spend in future years.

I have some plans for my bench with the 3rd pick of every round.  But I'd say this team compares more easily to and is slightly better than the 22-28 Houston Rockets, which means it's certainly better than the current Nets.  I think this team also has a much brighter future than the current Nets.  With still more to come

I really like my team so far and would much rather watch them then the current Detroit version. We're young but battle worthy, I think we could grow together and our payroll has plenty of room for growth. Am I on the right track?

You could maybe swing RayRay, 4(6), and another pick for Kevin Martin and Andre Miller.  Martin is a relatively equal player to Ray, but younger which would suit your young franchise better.  Houston has to do SOMETHING with all those pg's

Disagree.  Ray Allen is a significantly better player than Kevin Martin, who has shown nothing to this point in his career other than that:

1.  He can score loads of points on a terrible team;

2.  He's injury prone;

3.  He's soft;

4.  He's allergic to defense.

Moving Ray for Martin would immediately end any hopes NY had of being a contender.  Martin puts up good numbers, but that's about all he does.

This team is a playoff team as soon as Favors proves to be an above average starting PF.  Possible contender if Favors and Lopez ever live up to their perceived potential.

I like Battier as a guy that can help teach them how to play in the NBA.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I'm annoyed with my team.

Lowry
Fields
Smith
Ibaka
Bogut

hyper-athletic, but low on scorers. All good to very good to elite defenders in their own right, but lacking a clear leader.

Kinda like the actual Bucks.

That is a great transformation for the Pistons.  Your backcourt can't shoot too well though.  But both of your forwards can... Interesting/weird dynamic.

I don't know how Detroit fans will feel about Darko coming back to town though!!!

You have managed to recreate the T-Wolves big man rotation.

That's not a good thing.  I would try to replace Milicic as starter.

I don't think as a team you can be better then a low playoff team as Love as the one and only big time offensive threat.  I think he is better suited as a 2nd or 3rd option on a team.

Talented, although I think there could be some real growing pains for the team. They could struggle early. I can't help but think of the current Minnesota Timberwolves, whose starting frontcourt you now have.
