Now that we got a starting lineup:

1. Kirk Hinrich
2. Andre Iguodala
3. Carmelo Anthony
4. Demarcus Cousins
5. DeAndre Jordan

6th man: Taj Gibson

Thoughts:
I know there's been a few comments about me using one of my bigs to cash in on 'full win now mode' but I don't know if there's a trade out there that'd put me 'over the top' for this year, so I tend to think I'd be better off staying put.

Cousins is a C.  Start him there so he can grow up in that position.  If Jordan can not play PF, start Taj.

How can you keep Melo happy in Sac?  Have you put enough in prime talent around him?

Love the perimeter guys, but there is way too much question with that frontcourt.  Both Jordan and certainly Cousins have had some major questions about their makeup/motivation, and I am not confident Jordan is anywhere close to being a starter on a good team.

Maybe you don't need to trade either of them, but if you can find a way to get a legit veteran starter to move Jordan to the bench, I think you would be in much better shape.

Agreed -- Cousins too slow to play the four defensively. He'd be highly vulnerable in man-to-man defense and team defense.

When Sacramento use Dalembert alongside Cousins they usually put Dalembert on the PF and leave Cousins on the C. I haven't seen a lot of that combination but that seems to work fairly well defensively for them.

I would start Taj Gibson over D.Jordan. He has much quicker feet and is the better defensive player against most starting PFs + he is a much better fit offensively alongside Cousins and your other starters.

I'd like to think so. I think this team - even now - is an upgrade over his current Denver team. Without looking at the other teams in the West I'd say we could land somewhere between a 3 and 6 seed. I think if you give Cousins 1-2 more years, and if Jordan can become a consistent 10 and 10 defensive center then our team is a perennial contender.

Maybe I've played too much 2K, but I feel like I should give Jordan the start but give Gibson the minutes. I feel like Gibson's a great player, but I don't know how much more he has to grow which is why I think starting Jordan is so important. Am I wrong about that though?

Too old to be built around Griffin.

Your best player is not ready to lead a team to the title.  By the time he is, the other players will be to old to be the stars he needs around him.  We have already seen Davis looking long in the tooth.

I think DeAndre Jordan can continue to develop while coming off the bench. There are a lot of minutes available in that frontcourt.

You can give him 18-22 minutes a night as a center behind Cousins and another 10 minutes alongside Cousins -- a combination that would be particularly effective against teams with interior PFs or non-scoring PFs or most second unit PFs -- which would give DeAndre Jordan about 30 minutes a game to work with an develop with.

I don't he necessarily needs to start to develop. There are enough minutes available while coming off the bench.

Consequently, I would choose whoever you feel gives you your strongest starting lineup.

Anybody want to take another shot at my team thus far?

Devin Harris
Joe Johnson
Trevor Ariza
Ryan Anderson
Al Horford

Ben Gordon

Where do you see this team maxing out?  Can they contend, or are they just a perennial playoff afterthought?

Just a playoff team until they find a C good enough to allow Horford to slide over to PF.

Tyson Chandler/Chris Andersen
Dirk Nowitski
Richard Jefferson
Brandon Roy
Jarrett Jack

I know I am only as good as Roy's knee, but if he can get even to 80%, I really like my team so far...

I agree.  I'd go as far as to trade Gordon and a pick for a good C.  Then Anderson can come in off the bench to PF and either of your front court players can play C.

Right now, your 6th man backs up your best player, which I don't find to be an optimal situation, unless you've got a PF/C you really like that you think will last to you.

I'm taking your word then Who, to the bench Jordan! (if that's cool with you, DeAndre)

I have a few players in mind that can shore Davis up. Stay tuned!

If Greg Oden is healthy and can give you 26-28 minutes a night ... this team is a title contender as soon as next season.
