  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
Still working on trades, but don't want to get skipped. Also, I have to get back to work at some point. Let's roll the dice with another big man who is hopefully just having a down year due to injuries:

Mehmet Okur
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Good pick Champkind.  I liked Okur a lot, but needed a wing anyways.

I really couldn't let this guy slip anymore.  He can really score, and is only going to get better.

Dallas picks Wes Johnson

There has been a trade:

Dallas sends: 5(21), 6(1)
Phoenix sends: 5(13), 6(13)

Modest gain for Phoenix. I like starting the 6th, and I needed to buy some time to determine my next pick.

Hat tip to Chris.

No problem.  This worked well for me, since I would have likely missed my spot tonight.

Thanks. Wes was the other guy I was debating, solid pick on your end and potential All-Star on the wing with solid defense and versatile scoring.

To close out the half, the Grizz select Courtney Lee

And I might need him if Roy's knee doesn't hold up.

Great pick for your team. Won't need him to do too much, but he can start if Deng gets hurt, and he's a solid place holder in the 2nd unit.

Wes is one of my favorites, though I'm a Cuse homer so take that as you will.  But he's very versatile and I think he'd flourish pretty quickly on a better team than Minnesota.  There are some questions about his ceiling as he's an older rookie but I think he's going to be a very solid wing at the very least, with All-Star potential.

I am doubtful on Wes Johnson having All-Star potential.

I think there is a slight chance of it happening but only a slight chance.

I don't think his ball-handling or shot-creation abilities are good enough to become a high level offensive player. I think he will more likely become a sweet shooting Trevor Ariza type (which would be a very valuable role player).

I actually felt Minnesota was a fantastic home for him because the Triangle offense would keep him involved offensively, give him more touches and movement, than he would have been on most other team's offensive systems. I thought and still think that that offense offered Wesley Johnson the best opportunity to develop his offensive skill-set.

Although, Minny have screwed it up by playing Beasley at the three. That should be Wes Johnson's role and Martell Webster or Corey Brewer should be at the two alongside him. Allow him better opportunity to take advantage of his quickness and slashing.

That decision, starting Michael Beasley @ 3, has hurt Wes Johnson's productivity in a big way ... and seriously harmed Minnesota's defensive capabilities.

Yeah this is his biggest issue - he has a significantly below-average handle for an NBA wing.  He can spot-shoot or finish on the break fairly well, and can do a few single-dribble moves on the baseline to get a midrange jumper, but he's not a slasher or a guy who can make defenses pay for closing too hard at the 3 pt line.

I definitely think he has an All-Star ceiling but he'll need to diversify his O to get there.

In all honesty, I think this is my fifth draft on Celticsblog. I don't think there's ever been this long of a run where I was in complete agreeance with every pick. I'd refresh my page, see the selection, and do the approving nod at my desk that none of you can see.

Next week, do the draft times still stay the same?
