The Miami Heat select Jason Terry.
I prefer Jason Terry as a starter to Ty Lawson. He's a better complement to Wade and LeBron.

Also, playing in the second unit would give Lawson more freedom as a ball-handler and playmaker.

Help both players be individually more effective and create more effective lineups too.

I had to pick and run, but I wanted to come back and say that, while I'm not fully settled on the rotation, I suspect that you're right about both players.

It was a relief to have Terry fall to me, as he was one of two other guards that I took a hard look at last round. I ultimately decided on Lawson (based on age, defense, eFG%, etc.) but was left with the nagging suspicion that I'd reached - if only just - and reached on a player that might not be the ideal starter alongside Wade. Not only is JET a steal at the end of the third round, now I can have my cake and eat it too - so to speak.

Yeah ... have to agree with Edgar here ... Haywood has been struggling a lot this year, although to be fair, he's not getting as many minutes. I'd put Batum in the "average" category for SF's also

I think there's a distinction between struggling and not seeing minutes because there's a better player on your team.  It's a lot like Gortat:  he produced when given the opportunity, but he didn't see much opportunity.

Haywood has been very productive this year in the minutes that he has seen.  Regarding Batum, he's a role player, but he's a top-tier defensive SF with a high basketball IQ.  He's a Battier type, only younger and more dynamic.

I dunno, I always saw him as a guy that put up decent numbers on a bad wizards team and now isnt getting any run on a good Mav's team.

But the more that I think about it the Gortat analogy does ring true on this one.  So i will defer to those that have watched more of the Mavs gamest this year.  If people think that he has played well in his 17 min per game and think that will translate well to the 30+ from a normal starter I can defer to them

After reading this article it kind of made me think about all the discussion we have here on the blog not only in the draft but all around.  Kind of crazy to think that people here may put more effort into citing stats and analysis than people in college who think Research papers are just supposed to be, "their opinion"

Haywood hasn't always played on a bad Wizards team, though.  He played on a pretty good Washington team, and was equally effective, and he had similar numbers when traded to Dallas last year.  If you look at his "per 36" stats, he's had a remarkably consistent career:  he's always right around 10 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks per 36 minutes, on shooting in the mid-50% range.

Beyond stats, though, he's a very good defender, and he also plays physically.  He's mixed it up with Lebron a couple of times, and there seems to be some genuine dislike there.  That bodes well for any potential Miami / Folsom Prison matchup down the line.

While I have nothing but great admiration for Otart, we have no affiliation besides the fact that he agrees with eveyrthing I say.

Terry/Lawson is a dynamite PG backcourt that only a genius could construct. You, sir, are an inspiration to us all.
