Jerry Stackhouse made it clear to the Clips not to draft him.  I don't think Yao would have gone to Minny.

Minny might have not wanted to draft a player that clearly didn't want to go there.

He entered the draft.  He got picked.  If he wants to come to the NBA, he needs to deal with Minn.  Minn has no need to trade his rights.  Rights to a player are worth so little in trades.

What he did was the equivalent of putting your resume on monster.com and you get 4 calls from McDonalds, BK, Wendys, and Popeyes.  So you're like "I'll just stay at my mom and pop shop."

Love was an unemployed college kid who grew up in the United States and had never played against anyone better than the other college kid.

Rubio is making a good handful of money in his native country and has played against the best in the world at the Olympics and in the 2nd best league in the world.

He's being honest. He's like "When I feel like leaving Spain to play in the north pole I'll let you know. Right now I'd be interested in these teams so if you can figure something out that would be great. Till then I'm good".

If there was a player that didn't need the Patriots and didn't want to play for them would you want them to use a first rounder on him?  I don't think I would

So you are saying Love could not have gone overseas and made money playing ball there?  They are taking US high school kids. 


Minn owns his rights.  He needs to deal with them if he wants to play in the NBA.  Or he can stay where he wants.  The NBA isn't missing him.  The league is loaded with more talented PGs already.  (Paul, Williams, Rondo, Rose, Wall, Jennings to name a few)

That's exactly true. The kid's stock is just going to go up in Europe as he becomes a star and a marketing tool, and with that, so will his pay.

Much like with Carmelo, or Grant Hill, or whoever, I can't get on Rubio's case too much.  If he wants to stay in Spain, I guess that's his right under the CBA.  I think it's better for the league if he plays for the Twolves, but if he doesn't want to spend the next 3 - 4 years of his life in Minnesota, I guess he's within his rights to give up the money and potential legacy that goes along with that.

Well, he doesn't want to stay in Spain. He wants to come to the NBA, as long as he can dictate where he goes. I think that's the issues most people have... He's not a free agent, and he hasn't proved anything on an NBA court, but he's saying he wants to play in NY, Boston, or Miami??

I doubt those are the only cities he is willing to play for. Just his favourites.

I can't blame anyone for not wanting to go to Minnesota. It's the least attractive city in the NBA and it's front office is a train wreck.

Would anyone be interested in getting Ricky Rubio ? I am not sure he is a starter in the NBA anytime soon, but from the games I have seen on Spanish TV he seems to be pretty good at moving the ball up the floor and looking for the open man, similar to a Rondo type player (note I never said he is like Rondo). Would we trade a Nate and Baby for Rubio's rights ?
