Its not that Daniels is not a legit 3 but we could slide him into the 2 spot with the 2nd unit being
West
Daniels
Pietrus
BBD
Shaq/Perk.
That is intriguing to me.
I've always liked the idea of West at at the 1, Daniels at the 2, and someone bigger at the 3.
It's not so much that Daniels can't do it, it's just that it gives us so much more flexibility.
Imagine playing the Heat now. If Pierce gets into foul trouble early, Daniels has to guard LeBron the rest of the half, which could possibly put him into foul trouble too.
If we had another 3 (like Pietrus, or anyone else), we could put that 3 on LeBron and then have the option of swinging Daniels to the 3 to make sure that Pietrus/new 3 doesn't get into foul trouble.
It also makes us better defensively, as West would have a size advantage at the 1 (and is an improvement over Nate); same with Daniels and Pietrus.
Still, I don't hate what we have now. Nate and West have the potential to make a formidable backcourt.
