Its not that Daniels is not a legit 3 but we could slide him into the 2 spot with the 2nd unit being

West
Daniels
Pietrus
BBD
Shaq/Perk.

That is intriguing to me.

I've always liked the idea of West at at the 1, Daniels at the 2, and someone bigger at the 3.

It's not so much that Daniels can't do it, it's just that it gives us so much more flexibility.

Imagine playing the Heat now.  If Pierce gets into foul trouble early, Daniels has to guard LeBron the rest of the half, which could possibly put him into foul trouble too.

If we had another 3 (like Pietrus, or anyone else), we could put that 3 on LeBron and then have the option of swinging Daniels to the 3 to make sure that Pietrus/new 3 doesn't get into foul trouble.

It also makes us better defensively, as West would have a size advantage at the 1 (and is an improvement over Nate); same with Daniels and Pietrus.

Still, I don't hate what we have now.  Nate and West have the potential to make a formidable backcourt.

Nothing major to contribute here, but I really like Nate.  But I would really like this trade even more for many reasons already mentioned.  And note that Pietrus' contract expires in 2012, which lines up perfectly for Danny's plans.

Not a bad move.  Nate is a better scorer but Pietrus would make up for that with defense.  The best part would be it moves our guys into their natural positions.  Nate gets far away from PG, Pietrus becomes a real backup for PP, Marquis slides back down to the 2 (or Wafer when Daniels finally gets injured), and we slide Delonte to the point.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

  • Let's Go Celtics!
how about this trade

Celtics get : T.Prince
Pistons get : J.Thompson, J.O'Neal( i put JO for the salary to match i don't know if he can be traded know)
Kings   get:  N.Robinson, L.Harangody

We get our wing that we need plus he has expirience and he is great defender. Detroit get's Thompson who has great talent and he will play with Monroe. Kings get Robinson to back up Udrih and Harangody to back up Casspi. If needed 2 round picks can be included. Trade is succesfull on trade machine.

The Kings could far more than a backup PG and 12th man for giving up Thompson. They'd hang up the phone on us.

As for the original trade, I like it... Quis' has been solid this season, but his injury troubles really concern me.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I know Pietrus would probably crack our rotation, but it shows just how well your team is playing when you are worried about your back-up's back-up.

Never liked Pietrus.  Seems like a low IQ player to me.  That's probably why he's in the doghouse. Probably making a lot of dumb plays.

Especially if he's not a smart player, you don't want to go adding him to the mix late in the season for a championship run.  They've already got enough issues with what they can't run when the starting 5 get swapped out.

Who says pietrus isn't a smart player?  I've never really seen anything that has evinced that.

I just wrote an article on Nate's recent woes at my blog. I don't this he is the problem, it's more about what he's being asked to do

With Rondo's injury Robinson was asked to play starting point guard, and he did pretty well. But that of course was with the starters. Since coming back to the bench it's beginning to appear that Robinson doesn't work very well as a true point guard. He's a player who is most affective when he has his eye on the rim. When he's responsible for everyone else's shots he appears to get a little overwhelmed. Luckily for The Celtics, he's not too far away from being relieved of that duty.

Tp I'm a big Nate guy but I ultimately thinks this helps our team more in the long run. Pietrus really would be an ideal fit in a lot of respects.

Nice article. I agree plus he has been taking way too many 3's but whatever... Doc is an awesome coach and I think Nate will get it doing when he doesn't have to worry about so many things except shooting.

Interesting trade but just cause it works in the trade machine doesn't mean it would work in real life. If you match up salaries any trade would work in the machine.
