Roy does this constitute assault?
"An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm."
C'mon...its football. Guys have been threatening to knock guy's "blocks off" for years.
We all know what Scott was getting at but unless something blatant and malicious happens on the field tomorrow, let's back off from assault talk. Its probably a tasteless statement to many but still.
It's football.
I dunno, I think threatening to end somebodies career and crippling their livelihood is pretty serious. I havent heard something like this in a long time and its way over the line.
I also think its a violation of the leagues bounty rule.
How is it a violation of the league's bounty rule? There's no financial incentive being offered here ala Buddy Ryan back in the day.
Scott was vague enough with the statement but its apparent enough what he was getting at.
Like I said, its a bit tasteless but this is also football.
It doesnt have to be a financial incentive. Its a practice where defensive star players will put out a "bounty" or incentive for teammates to knock out opposing offensive star players from the game.
