Quote
Jets linebacker Bart Scott wasn't amused by Patriots receiver Wes Welker's Thursday news conference in which he made double-digit references to "feet", "toes" and "foot", which players are taking as a dig at Jets coach Rex Ryan.

Scott told Roderick Boone of Newsday: "Be very careful what you say about our coach. His [Welker's] days in a uniform will be numbered. Put it like that."

Wow what a freaking tool. So what are you going to do Scott, take a cheap shot on his knees or maybe a hit to a defenseless reciever? The whole jets team is complete garbage , I am expecting a blowout by the Pats tomorrow . I  really hope Gronkowski lays a huge block on Scott tomorrow and knocks him out of the game

I really wish this game was today.

I'm so tired of all the talking.  I hope Pats serve up a serious dish of humble pie tomorrow.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
Half the guys on the team are thugs, and some even are criminals. Like Braylon Edwards who gets a DUI in the beginning of the season.

I don't mind the trash talk, so long as there is no intent to injure on the field.  Players can talk dirty all they want, in my opinion, but their actions can't cross a line.

If he does actually injure Wes now, I would imagine this quote would suffice enough to make this guys days in a uniform numbered.

Just play the game folks. Like Roy said, trash talkings ok with me as long as theres no intent to injure or dirty plays during the game.

Roy does this constitute assault?

"An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm."
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

C'mon...its football.  Guys have been threatening to knock guy's "blocks off" for years.

We all know what Scott was getting at but unless something blatant and malicious happens on the field tomorrow, let's back off from assault talk.  Its probably a tasteless statement to many but still.

It's football.

I dunno, I think threatening to end somebodies career and crippling their livelihood is pretty serious.  I havent heard something like this in a long time and its way over the line.

I also think its a violation of the leagues bounty rule.

Honest to God, this makes less sense than the Cromartie trashtalk.  At least with Antonio, you could tell it was jealousy, etc.

First, why the heck would you really want to defend you coach from a few people making fun of him for his foot fetish videos?  If I was a Jets player, I'd be making fun of him for that.  If Bill Bellichick made a foot fetish video, I'd think every joke people make about it was funny.

Second, of all the things Wes could've done in that situation, what he did was hardly worthy of the Scott reaction.  Wes did it with tact.

Finally, I think if any player's career is ended tomorrow, it'll be someone on the Jets.  I think Bill has something up his sleeve.

Mangold responded in appropriate fashion.  Scott did it with no class and in a manner that in my opinion is against football rules and possibly the law.

this is what Mangold said and i give him props.

"Wes Welker is a great player. He's really taken advantage of watching film. If we don't keep a Spy on him, he could really open the Gate."

How is it a violation of the league's bounty rule?  There's no financial incentive being offered here ala Buddy Ryan back in the day.

Scott was vague enough with the statement but its apparent enough what he was getting at.

Like I said, its a bit tasteless but this is also football.
