I love it, KG has probably already got the upcoming Orlando and Detroit games circled. ;D

Quote
“KG felt much better (yesterday) morning,” general manager Danny Ainge said.

“He loves to play, so when we said it takes probably two weeks to heal, he wanted no part of that. He wants to come back sooner."

“He’ll probably be out some time between 10 and 14 days. But he feels good.”

The Celtics had a good feeling about this a couple of hours after Garnett suffered the injury as he planted to go up for a dunk in the first quarter of Wednesday’s road loss to the Pistons.

Don't rush back! Those supporting muscles need to be full strength to avoid any other more severe injury.

Two weeks is fine fine fine.

KG also wanted to play in the 2009 playoffs.

Point being, I wouldn't really put much stock in whether he feels like playing sooner than the doctors recommend.

  • GOT IT!!!
I bet he's back either by the Charlotte or Orlando game. Whatever it takes to get fully healthy though, no need rushing back.

Too bad we won't be able to see a healthy KG go against the Spurs.

I don't know, I guess I am not sure I buy all this.  Last year he only missed 10 games (what is that 3 weeks) but he wasn't KG when he came back, he was a gimpy shell of himself.  I will continue to be nervous about this until I see not just him back on the court but rather him back and playing like KG.  I don't doubt his toughness and desire but that wasn't enough to overcome a gimpy leg last year.   I am not sure why, but I just don't think they are telling us everything.

  • You say when......
My take, is the same as always...first BBall is VERY hard on the body, from your toes to your head/mind...! Playing 2-3 times a week full blast, and some practice in between.......for every player it is like, tick, tick, tick.....Everyone who plays hard often knows inside, "How long until my next injury!"

So, KG, ready and healthy for the playoffs is all that matters. He runs this team, and when he is healthy, as we have seen this year earlier, we are on our way to the PROMISED LAND..!

Home court...well that is nice, but you can't always have evereything..! It isn't as if the refs are any good to us at home either....! The refs, ugh, signs of an organization out of control...!!!

I give him the full two weeks regardless of what he wants to do. No need to rush him, let him fully recover and get some extra rest.

Agreed -- I don't care about a couple of regular season games in January. It's the playoffs that matter and KG hasn't been a healthy guy over the last 18 months ... best to be extra cautious in bringing him back.

Agreed, we have a frontcourt that can withstand any team. Jermaine, Shaq, Davis, Erden and Harangody. Besides, this is a huge opportunity for Harangody to step up which I would really like to see.

This injury is completely unrelated to his knee problem from last year.  There's really no need to feel superstitous about this one.

Unlikely since there's no reason to believe Harangody will get increased minutes.  KG simply replaces JO as the frontcourt man on the injured list.

I've seen absolutely nothing from Harangody to suggest he should get additional minutes. He's a big defensive liability.
