couple things...first, they absolutely have to test everything around the knee. the fact that they're doing this neither confirms nor denies a knee issue. second, re: the celtics statements saying this is not a knee issue...fact is, you can basically diagnose a ligament tear without an MRI. there are diagnostic tests, and while x-rays are not conclusive, if you don't see something on them due to fluid build-up from an ACL tear, it is a good thing. my guess is KG checked out fine on all these fronts and that is why they are saying what they're saying. they are pretty sure it isn't an ACL tear/knee problem. they can't be 100% sure without an MRI, but they are pretty sure. third, re: the duplicity of the C's in 2009 with KG's injury...fact is, the injury was not horrible. the bone spurs made it bad. they couldn't really tell how bad the bone spurs will until they removed them via surgery. hence, the C's were probably unable to ascertain how long KG would be out. the muscle injury wasn't that bad. they just had no clue if he could play with the bone spurs, which he couldn't because they were massive. this shouldn't be a repeat of the same situation in that they took care of the bone spurs last time. unless he somehow got them again, and got them horribly in a very short period of time, i don't see how this is at all like the injury in 2009...other than the fact that it might be a muscular right leg issue. bone spurs should not complicate things this time. anyway, lets just all hope for the best. we really can't say anything with any certainty until the MRI results come back.
