  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
I can't see Chris Paul moving until there is a real ownership group in place.

Very good point. The Hornet's roster is pretty much hamstrung at this point, until it gets resolved at the top.
Which sadly is going to take a while. Apparently no one who wants to buy the team is willing to keep it in New Orleans.

Would you?

After New Orleans strong start to the season, I think there was pretty much zero chance of any Chris Paul trade happening until next summer.

Now with the NBA taking over the franchise, it has only reinforced that.

So next summer = the Chris Paul + Deron Williams trade sweepstakes.

This might be my longing to be right about the future of the Nets, but I still think they're the better match for Carmelo if it goes into the off-season. That being said, I'd wish the Nets wouldn't gut their future to acquire him.

Talentwise, absolutely.  But I think all things equal, I think he prefers to playing in Manhattan, over a slightly better basketball situation.  And honestly, I don't blame him.  There just is so much more prestige with the Knicks.

It's like if you had a chance to play for the Celtics, or some new expansion team that plays in Worcester.  Even if the team in Worcester had better players, I am guessing you would rather play for the Celtics.

I don't know, I think being able to be on a team playing out of Brooklyn w/ Pokorov (sic, I'm sure) would be pretty dang cool.

Prestige and the Knicks have been an oxymoron for about 10 years.

If he goes to the Nets it will be 'his' team.

Doesn't matter if you grew up loving them like Melo did.  The prestige is still there for the fans, and they are a sleeping giant (of hype).

Makes the Atlantic more fun. Increases rivalry between Nets and Knicks.  Great for the NBA if it happens. I think the Nets could be really interesting by the time the move to Brooklyn in 2 years.

I'd love to see Melo go to a youngish contender.

I'd love to see another team come together in the East that is capable of battling the Heat for the next 5-7 years. So the Knicks and their continued development would be something I'd very much like to see.

See, I think the Knicks might be better off not getting Melo.  I think they could be better off solidifying the center spot, and building the wing spot similar to the Suns did, without real superstars, but a bunch of long, athletic guys who can shoot, and cause havoc.
