The Hawks.
Hawks Trade: Mike Bibby, Jamal Crawford, 1st round pick
Suns Trade: Steve Nash, Grant Hill, Channing Frye
Why for Suns?
-If this new "so sorry about the whole Hedo thing" move goes to crap like it probably will, they'll need to rebuild. This trade effectively takes Nash's salary off the books after this season, and it gets them out from under Channing Frye's overpayment, keeping all contracts under 2 yrs.
Why for Hawks?
Bibby is a pretty bad starting PG now, and Steve Nash is a pretty good one. The Hawks can't seem to utilize their athletic squad in a way that translates to wins, especially against good teams. Nash can do that. Grant Hill will also bring a steadying influence to the lockerroom, and a much needed backup multitalented wing player to help keep the offense consistent even when Johnson is out. On top of that, Channing Frye will really stretch the floor, allowing Atlanta to toy around with their lineups in the frontcourt.
The Suns would need to effectively give up on the next 2 years, but that ship is coming to port anyway.
The Hawks lineup would look like this:
Nash/Teague
J Johnson/Hill/Jordan Crawford
Marvin Williams/Grant Hill/Josh Smith
Josh Smith/Al Horford/Josh Powell
Al Horford/Frye/Zaza
That's an 11 man rotation that really makes the competitive.
