Woj reporting.

LA sends: Sasha V, 2011 1st
LA gets: Joe Smith

HOU sends: 2012 1st
HOU gets: Terrence Williams

NJ sends: Terrence Williams, Joe Smith
NJ gets: Lakers 2011 1st, HOU 2012 1st, Sasha V.

Deal can’t be finalized until Wednesday 15th because Smith was a free agent signing.

All these picks could come in use if New Jersey is chasing Carmelo still.

Good trade for L.A and Houston, terrible trade for NJ... I don't understand why they would sacrifice Terrence Williams for Vujacic and two useless 1st rounders. ???

New Jersey feels that they’re still in the hunt for Carmelo. All these 1st rounders could be huge for trade bait.

Not to mention that T-Will hasn’t really been in AJ’s good graces.

Otherwise i like LA getting Joe Smith, KG KILLS that dude.

Plus Vujacic is an expiring 5.5 Million.

T-Will just tweeted “What’s up people? #wordaapp”

I don’t think he’s been hearing rumors yet.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
If this did happen, its got a couple of pretty big ramifications:

1) It sets the price on a reasonable prospect like Anthony Randolph, a guy NY is purportedly trying to trade for picks, or at least thinking about it.

2) This says something about how poor a player Sasha is, how good the 2008 and 2009 lakers teams were, and how much LA wanted piece of mind with its bigs. Sasha was a major player for LA during stretches of 09, but a lot more in 08. Sasha has been playing a lot less this year, averaging less than 5 a game. He's only 27, so that means the Lakers replaced him, he didn't get any worse. Also, Joe Smith might have 1 year left in him. The Lakers are willing to part with long money (a late 1st) to rent Smith now for the piece of mind a 3rd veteran big gives you. This is the right role for Smith, and good trade for LA.

For NJ, this isn't that big a deal. Terrance Williams was a headache in a young ball club, they got rid of the headache. That is never a bad move. They got a 1st this season and a 1st next season, that's solid value for a headache.

Have to agree on all counts, IP. [As a fantasy owner of TWill, I have to hope he gets some burn in Houston.]

It also means that Jersey isn't buying the "Knicks or nowhere" rumors connected to Melo.

However, if those rumors become more substantiated, and Jersey bows out of the Melodrama, then perhaps they can trade one of those 1sts to NY for Randolph.

He's worse than PJ Brown was when we had him.

First of all, nothing's happened yet, so we'll have to see.

When I heard about this on the radio, I think I confused Josh and Joe Smith for a second, and thought we might have had another mega-type steal/acquisition. Even though it is "Joe" Smith we're talking about, Sasha has been trash for years now, and he has no room with the depth at the 2/3 position. I would trade him for a PF/C corpse, so I like the deal, even though his expiring would be very valuable (and you would think you could get better with it).

Their own picks in 2011 and 2012, LA Lakers 2011 1st, Golden State 2012 1st, and Houston's (or NY's?) 2012 1st.

They also have their own 2nd rounders in 2011 and 2012, and 2nd rounders from Golden State, Chicago, and Miami in 2012.

So they have lots of chips to play with.

BTW, the reason the trade isn't official is because Joe Smith can't be traded before Dec 15.

As  a Celtics fan, I love this deal for a few reasons: 1. We get to play, torch, torture and beat up on Sasha more often. 2. It implies that the Lakers are scraping the bottom of the barrel DESPERATE for a big man and 3. The Cs have owned the shell of a former player that is Joe Smith recently. Sounds all good to me!!!

Hmmm...I'm glad, but now I'm starting to think we could have done better with his expiring.
