BTW, the reason the trade isn't official is because Joe Smith can't be traded before Dec 15.

Nice catch. You've been on point lately Lucky.

I love this stuff. That's my "bread 'n buttah", man.

Why does LA want Joe Smith?  I don't get it.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

First of all, nothing's happened yet, so we'll have to see.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5920357

Confirmed on ESPN. That's as close to actually happpening as you get.

Hmmm...I'm glad, but now I'm starting to think we could have done better with his expiring.
His expiring is a net negative, that's why they had to give up a pick as well.

They just turned a 5.5 million dollar winger that’s not go playing time, into a 1.35 million dollar big man with no playing time.

I say it’s an upgrade because they’re saving money and Bigs will be more valuable in the playoffs.

Vujacic is useless if you have Artest and Barnes in front of him.

Why does LA want Joe Smith?  I don't get it.

Well, this is their frontcourt rotation:

4: Lamar Odom/Derrick Caracter
5: Pau Gasol/?

Joe Smith who can play the 5 against smaller guys and the 4 against bigger 4's is a real solid addition in that context.

Once Bynum gets back, Smith's minutes will go down a lot, but as it sits right now, Vujacic is playing less than 5 mins per game and this years' draft is supposed to be the worst one in a decade, so it's worth the piece of mind to trade depth at one position for another.

Well who do you think a Sasha Vujacic and late 1st rounder gets ya now a days?

Fransico Elson? Fabricio Oberto? Dan Gadzuric?

The Lakers have been absolutely desperate for an extra big.  If Joe can give them 12 minutes per game, it helps them tremendously in saving Pau from getting completely worn down by playing huge minutes.

Having said that, I'm glad that they didn't get somebody better.  This move doesn't exactly scare me.

C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I just smiled when I saw Sasha dealt away, I bet he's heartbroken...probably about as p---ed as when Ray drove by him to lay it up in game 4 in '08 Finals   ;D

People can tell me that Vujacic has an entire NBA career all they want, but for the rest of my life I will only remember that one moment, and the tears that followed.

I actually would be more upset/worried if LA got Williams in the deal.

With Smith, if the C's match up with them, either Smith doesn't play or, if he does, GOOD, it means Bynum is still hurt and Smith does not scare me at all.

However, Williams is talented, and I could easily see him as being a bigger, better version of what Shannon Brown (throw in into the Vlad Rad/Morrison trade, emerges as quite productive) has become.

Bynum is already back

I kind of expecting was Devin Harris going to LA to be honest.  Glad that is not the case.
