He looks VERY explosive, which i like. Pats have used RB by committee for years now, that's why i didn't care about passing up Ingram. BJGE/Woodhead/Vereen/ and maybe Faulk is a pretty [dang] good group at RB.

They pick again in 2 picks, i'd be shocked if they don't go OL, or DE/OLB, like a Justin Houston, but that's just as much me hoping as i really want him.

Scratch that, they traded the pick to Houston lol. Not overtly surprised.

They got 73/138 for the pick.

Move down 13 spots, and just get a 5th? First move i've disliked.

Ditto.
Don't like it.  Would have preferred if there was a way to move it for a 2nd next year.

EDIT: but maybe they'll package picks to move back up?

Maybe, trying to guess what they will do is next to impossible. I freakin want Justin Houston though.

As a side, Kiper has become a joke. He has become more about defending his mock than anything else.

BTW, how weird would it be if the Saints also selected Jordan Cameron from USC?

Okay, I can see the Mallett pick.  Pure BB, as it is a value pick.  But I've never even heard of the RB they just selected from LSU.....

Love those picks.  Get the complimenting bruising RB to the quicker, pass catching guy they got last round, and Mallet is just a great value at this point.  At some point they need to start grooming Brady's replacement, and Mallet has a ton of potential.

I know they still need help on the defensive front, but at this point they have basically made the decision to solidify that through other means, so it really is BPA time.

The Pats already have the pass rusher they needed, and he wasnt in the draft. his name is ty warren, and he missed the whole season. i feel with him coming back it really helps with that glaring weakness.....

OMG Someone please strip Bill of his GM duties ASAP.

He's gone bloody mad. He's getting old and insane.

Please Bob lets bring in some young GM to help out.

2 suspect RB's ranked 8th and 20th on my favorite draft website Walter FB. Mayock had Ridley in the 6th round.

Mallet may turn out to be something.

But wow. Last year I felt great after Gron, Hernandez, Spikes and Cunningham.

This year I'm shocked so far, and in the worst way. Horrible draft.

Solder is rock solid, Everything else is Suspect at best.

I agree that focusing too much on "pass rusher" is the wrong approach.  I think the Pats were ranked last out of all the teams in terms of pass rush, but still managed to lose only 2 games.  Point being that just because you suck at pass rush doesn't mean you need to focus just on that area.  e.g.: by getting lock down corners (McCourty and Dowling?) you give more time to your existing rushers to make a play for the QB.

That said, I'd feel more comfortable if the Pats draft a rushing OLB/DE just to add competition for the existing guys, particularly Banta-Cain.

Upon further reflection, I do like the Mallett pick.  Nice forward looking move by BB.  Mallett is not yet starting material, and he'll be an understudy of one of the best.

Ah, Pats trade 3rd and 4th rounders for Oakland's 2012 2nd rounder.

That's a trade I like!

Love the Mallet pick, Ridley is a strong RB who gets better as the games wear on, which with the NE weather, is a good thing.

All the talk of pass rushers, after the first few, there weren't any REALLY good pass rushers, outside of Bowers who has the knee issues.

The Patriots get Warren back next year, and they LOVE Jermaine Cunningham, who alot of people are sleeping on. He will never be a dominant pass rusher, but should be good.

I am a fan of the latest trade, a 3rd and 4th for the Raiders 2nd next year.
