Who?

but hey, can't argue with a cover corner even if i'm not familier with him, we need one to put next to mccourty.

like the pick from a positional standpoint.\

Edit: nice catch on yourself thier gruden, you forgot about mccourty, i cought that pause before "uh...aside from mccourty" when he was saying we have no corners haha

BB must just really not be enamored with any of the DE/LB out there right now.

Doesn't this pick basically admit that Butler was a mistake?

i'm with him on DE's, those guys are gone.

and i think he really believes in banta cain, nick, and cunningham.

can't say i see what he sees, but thats why he's one of the greatest coach's of all time and im a starving grad student ;)

p.s this is such a "please don't boo me!" stunt from goodell. almost as bad as his clearly audibled in moment of silence yesterday when the boo birds hit early.

Maybe not so much a mistake, but at the very least this is a wakeup call to Butler. He struggled last year, but he has shown some nice flashes. Also BB loves having flexibility in his secondary, and the more quality players you have the better, obviously.

For sure it acknowledges Wheatley and Wilhite were mistakes, with more than a passing nod to the idea that Butler was a mistake.

It certainly creates a lot of competition at the CB: McCourty, Bodden, Arrington, Dowling, Butler.... It is also nice insurance in case Bodden is not yet 100%.  I wonder if any of these guys can play a little safety.

Edit: meant to add that I like the pick.  I mentioned earlier that CB was a need (although I didn't expect them to pick one so early).

Sheard and Williams headed to Cleveland and Arizona, respectively.  Two names tied to the Pats.  Oh well.
(I liked what I read about Sheard; don't think RB is as much of a need as some, and know nothing about Williams).

Anyone want to guess what position the Pats take with their next pick?

is there anyone in this whole draft who mel doesn't think has "top ten potential" ?

seriously, he's just mailing it in at this point. every single pick it's "this guy could have been top ten but for X"

no kidding mel. i could have been a top ten pick this year if not for my lack of height, strength, speed, and ability. If only i had worked harder on those this off season  ::)

RebusRankin had top ten potential except for the fact he never played organized football.

haha, tp.
you know, i think i liked the old draft format better -- Saturday afternoons and early evening, and all day sunday.  It is just too long an drawn out in this new format.  Its almost 8pm tonight, and we're about half way through the 2nd round.  feels like we've been at this for ages.  just exhausting!

OL or possibly LB.

Yeah.
My bet is Chris Carter from Fresno State.
Although, now that I think of it, and we are talking BB, he'll do something wacky, like take a QB!

I wouldn't be shocked if the Pats go RB right here, with LeShoure on the board. Guy is a beast.

A WR/OLB/OL are all just as likely IMO.

Well they went RB, just not the one i was expecting.

So I have to admit, that while I don't think RB was a necessity for the Pats, I do like Shane Vereen.  I'm a Cal alum, so he's really the only RB that I know.  I'll certainly be pulling for him to make an impact on the Pats, but he strikes me as someone who would've been available a bit later if the Pats wanted to trade the pick.
