Had to be started, here's what I got:

New Jersey Nets Send: Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, 2 first round picks
New Jersey Nets Receive: Carmelo Anthony

Denver Nuggets Send: Carmelo Anthony
Denver Nuggets Recieve: Derrick Favors, Andre Igoudala, 1 first round pick

Philadelphia 76ers Send: Andre Igoudala
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Troy Murphy, First Round Pick (Rockets)

I think the Nuggets are going to get some serious value out of Melo if they can get the Nets to trade for him.

I'm looking for the exact info on this - unfortunately Terrence Williams is retweeting anything anyone will say to him so it's hard to nagivagte, but they've actually got 5 in the net two years though.

Their own pick, Houston's pick and LA Lakers pick (assuming T-Will trade gets done) this year and their own pick and someone elses next year.

That would be a great trade for Denver. A trio of Ty Lawson, Iggy and Favors would be a nice core to begin rebuilding around.

Trade Billups and Nene for some other assets. Likely draft picks. Let Kenyon leave. Dump Al Harrington. Move JR Smith into a starring role and let him score 20ppg a night alongside Iggy on the wing.

That would be a fun team to watch while they rework the roster. Some serious talent in Iggy and Favors too. Players that could be big pieces of their next high quality team.

No, I skimmed your post (more like barely read it besides what everyone was getting back). I assumed you'd used new york, not new jersey.

What makes you think a New jersey deal is even possible?

Even if they could guarantee a contract extension out of him, I don't understand why New Jersey is (seemingly) so willing to give up all these assets for him. Given the situation, you'd think the Nuggets would be happy w/ Murphy, filler and 2 picks.

Well I'd agree with that except this line of thinking: If NJ can get Denver to agree on a trade in principal, they have on card to play: They can fly in Prokorov and hope between him and Avery Johnson they can get Melo on board. They can even use NY's success against them..NY was a point guard and a scoring dynamo away from a winning record. If they can make the trade they'll own Melo's Bird rights (I believe) and possibly convince him that Brooklyn is where he wants to be.

Still, the pull of playing in NY right now, that's a hard thing to deny, and playing next to Amar'e, in a system that's already working...even harder.

I think it's possible because they've got a pretty attractive package for Melo

-Exciting move to Brooklyn
-Builds an exciting in-town rivarly
-Owner who will stop at nothing to win
-Play the Jay Z card again
-Legit complimentary building blocks in Lopez & Harris
-W/ Harris they're in a legitimate spot to pick up his buddy CP3, whereas the Knicks would have to wait for free agency, or might rightfully be happy with Felton

As a Nuggets fan I think you'd have to be on cloud 9 if you got that much in return for Carmelo. That fan-base has to realize that they've seen as far as this team is able to go, the excitement of rebuilding w/ the possibility of staying competitive would get me excited as a fan.

So you think Prokhorov (I believe I've spelled his name 3 different ways now) will either directly tell Harris or provide the information through back channels that he wants to move Harris for CP3 in a year?

I think what New Jersey is selling is nice and everything, but I'm not sure it is what Melo is buying, and while Denver would like to be the ones in charge here, ultimately they're not.

I think that is what you meant.

I think through back-channels the Nets would inform Carmelo Anthony that if the Hornets were willing to make the trade, they'd do it if that'd make Carmelo happy. At least, that's how I'd sell it if I were in their position (assuming they want Melo as bad as it seems)

Right, seems stupid is all over this thread now (regarding our typos).

I just don't think it gets it done, especially considering how well Melo and CP3 know each other. Melo probably knows CP3's intentions, and if he did go to NY, I wouldn't be surprised at all if CP3 has already made up his mind he's going there too.

At the end of the day, I agree with you. I still think New York is where Carmelo lands, regardless of what CP3 has planned (if anything).

I also think its in the Nets best interest to hold onto Favors and make a lesser trade (Murphy and a pick or two for Igoudala would be a pretty good deal for both sides).

I just hope Denver can get some value out of Carmelo

I think New Jersey is still too far away from winning to convince Carmelo Anthony to join them. They only had 12 wins last season and they are on pace for only 19/20 wins this season.

They have a nice foundation and some interesting things going on ... but they just have too much ground to make up to convince Carmelo to sign a contract extension.

I don't think they'll give up Favors without a firm commitment from Carmelo Anthony. They rate Favors too highly to take that risk.

So for now, without something changing, I don't view the Nets as a realistic destination point.
