Had to be started, here's what I got:

New Jersey Nets Send: Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, 2 first round picks
New Jersey Nets Receive: Carmelo Anthony

Denver Nuggets Send: Carmelo Anthony
Denver Nuggets Recieve: Derrick Favors, Andre Igoudala, 1 first round pick

Philadelphia 76ers Send: Andre Igoudala
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Troy Murphy, First Round Pick (Rockets)

I think the Nuggets are going to get some serious value out of Melo if they can get the Nets to trade for him.

Brand and Murphy might make the worst front court pairing ever. I have to think if Philly wants to dump AI's contract it won't be too hard. He's an elite role player, the kind of guy a near championship team seeks out to get over the top, and as much as his salary is too high, its not that hard to match in a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal.

Basically would Philly dump AI straight up for Houston's pick? And could they get better for AI?

The Nets could probably sweeten the deal with another future round pick, but I don't know who could beat that offer for Iguodala. I love AI, I think he's probably worth more, but I don't think there's a team out there that could beat this.

Given the protections, I'd pass if I was Philly. I'd want NJ's first round pick this year, no protection.

Ya, admittedly I made this before I knew about the heavy protection - which I guess I should've assumed in a trade where they're just getting T-Will.

I don't know the draft class to say exactly where they should protect themselves, but I'd have to think the Nets would at least top 3 protect in this scenario

sounds like the Nets might take the same plan of attack that the Magic did - taking on extra pieces (and extra expenses) to get the deal done

opens up a whole slew of possibilities

- Rip Hamilton or T. Prince?
- Iggy? (as stated already)
- Jackson or Wallace from Char.?

The report sounds a bit wishy washy to me.

No real details. Just some talk that Devin Harris might be dealt to bring back another top player ... seems unlikely that they can trade Harris and get a large enough upgrade to convince Carmelo that suddenly their future looks much rosier? No?

Seems like a stretch to me.

I think that report is just a sign that Melo has flat out told the Nets he won't sign there (he probably told them because of their poor supporting cast).

So they're trying all sorts of crazy trade scenarios to get another piece to change his mind.

very interesting.  Sounds just like the KG situation.  He didn't want to come here without more help, so they went out and got Ray.

If there ever were a team set up to do this, it is the Nets.  Between all their first round picks (2 next year, 3 the year after), young talent (Harris, Favors, Morrow), and movable contracts (Murphy, Vujacic).

It is tough to see where they would go for that other talent, but there are a ton of options.

Nets get:

Melo, Gerald Wallace, DJ Augustin, and Andre Miller

Denver gets Favors, Murphy, and a couple picks

Portland gets Humphries, Farmar, and maybe a pick

Charlotte gets Devin Harris, and Damion James.

Not perfect, but maybe getting there.

This sort of combination deal is always hard to pull off. I don't think Portland/Charlotte would be interested in your idea Chris.

Charlotte, if you're trading Wallace you're blowing it up to rebuild rather than win now. So why get Devin Harris?

Portland, I think they'll ask for more than Humphries/Farmar and a pick. (unless that pick was lottery unprotected and likely to be decent)

He could, but I don't see what sort of move he could make that makes sense. We don't have too many contracts to move. Jermaine/Perkins/Baby/Bradley plus minimum type guys are all we have for ammo.

Yeah, I wouldn't bet the farm on it.  But I still think moving Perk or Davis is a legit possibility if Danny sees the opportunity, and can lineup a replacement for their depth (Sheed?).

Danny has never been afraid to make a risky move, and I don't think he will be gunshy this season, with so many questions about the future of the franchise looming the next two summers.

Houston: They trade Yao Ming's expiring and a 1st for one of the better centers in the league, and a guy who is young enough so that they can build around him, Scola, and Martin.

Denver: They get rid of their 2 biggest long term contracts in Birdman and Al Harrington, they get 2 1st rd picks, and they get Brandon Bass. Yao Ming's contract can either be written off to insurance, or Denver can try to resign him to a shorter contract in the offseason. Without any 1st rd draft picks or resigning JR Smith, Denver would only have around 24 million owed to players walking into next season, with the option to resign Yao Ming and another player if they wished.

Orlando: They trade Brandon Bass while his stock is high along with Jason Richardson and Marcin Gortat's trade exception for Carmelo Anthony. On top of that they get a good defensive backup center and a scoring stretch 4. Their cap number is the absolute worst in the league, but is it a worthwhile risk in order to keep Dwight Howard in town? They'll still have Jameer Nelson to work with as a trade chip.
