Anthony Randolph to Houston for the Knicks 2011 draft pick (from the McGrady trade).

Then, NY sends Wilson Chandler or Danilo Gallinari + Eddy Curry + 2011 first round pick + Kelenna Azubuike to Denver in exchange for Carmelo Anthony.

The Knicks might need to add Mosgov to the trade proposal too if the Nuggets want another young player. Douglas doesn't hold much value due to Lawson and they need another big man.

The Knicks will only send one of Gallinari or Chandler to the the Denver Nuggets.

What do you think about Randolph+Chandler to Houston for Houston's 2 firsts and Jared Jeffries?

Houston sheds Jeffries' contract next season (he's racked up 14 DNP-CD's in 23 games), and gets two worthwhile prospects in a draft class that will be pretty lackluster.

Would Denver even demand a 1st rounder?

I would think they'd prefer Randolph, over a 1st, in exchange for Melo.

So now...how does Melo get to NYC?
The Acela doesn't go that far, so I think he'll have to take Delta or JetBlue? :)

Joking aside, it the Knicks have Curry's contract, which can be a valuable filler in this one. To me, a possible deal would be Anthony + Balkman for Curry + Gallinari + Chandler/Douglas/both. Of course, a bunch of picks may be changing hands there as well.

Reportedly, the Nuggets are not high on Randolph and would prefer a first rounder.

Bad choice ... but that seems to be their inclination.

Wow. I know AR hasn't shown anything in the league thus far, but I'd have to think he's got as much (if not more) upside than whatever 1st rounder they could possibly end up with.

Why? Why is New York doing this?

I think the Knicks want to build around a four man core of Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Raymond Felton and one of Chandler/Gallinari. Add a fifth player, a defensive big, to that core and build some depth and NY will have a very talented team.

Far more upside ... far more upside than D.Gallinari or W.Chandler too.

Very poor decision to overlook Anthony Randolph.

No confidence in the Nuggets front office, I don't think they have a clue. No plan to what they're doing.

I'm assuming NY is doing this for the picks Denver is demanding. Since NY cannot send Denver one of their own picks until 2014.

EDIT: And I'm assuming they're trying to unload Jared Jeffries too?

To be fair to the Nuggets, people have had high expectations for Anthony Randolph, and have been touting his "potential" and "upside" for a few years now, and he's yet to really put together a stretch of consistent high level play.

I don't think they need a second draft pick.

It would be nice if they had it. It would shore up the offer and likely seal the deal ... but I think they can get a deal done without it.

Their isn't much quality available in other trade proposals and Carmelo Anthony's uncertain contract status allows him to steer the negotiations in whatever direction he desires. The Knicks offer of Gallo or Chandler + a first rounder is enough to get it done.

If another strong bidder entered the picture, it would be worth revisiting but not before.

Boy, these teams are done, their stars won't match well.  Amare and Melo I don't know how well they would play together both have poor histories against physical players too.

Well don't the nuggets have a bargaining chip then?  He can be signed and traded to the knicks, one of the few teams HE is ok with.  This way the knicks get their man.  If anthony goes fa he can go to the knicks, high bidder or the other few teams he was interested in.  I think the nuggets can get a good package from ny with draft picks, cash, expiring contracts and players.

My prediction is there will not be a trade.  NY will just sign him in the off season.  There is no reason to give up any real talent just to have Carmelo for 1/2 a season.  Denver should have done the NJ trade but ya know, they never listen to me when I tell them what to do.  Now I am advising NY to not trade and hold onto their talent

That's not true. NY needs Eddie Curry's contract to make this trade work. Without Curry I'm pretty sure they can't offer a max contract to melo.

IE, if they go past the trading deadline, New York loses one of its easiest paths to Melo.
