So the need is for a 3rd backup to Pierce and Daniels?  I don't consider that very much of a need.  Realistically though there is 0% chance Danny is going to bring back someone he offered the same amount of money but, choose to play in Memphis.

They can live without a third SF right now, but Pierce is an older player and Daniels is as much of an injury risk as Jermaine O'Neal.  Ainge should have a contingency plan in mind if either of them gets injured and has to miss 20 games since that is the scenario most likely to require some sort of roster move.  At the very least, he should have in mind who he would cut and what D-Leaguer he would bring in to fill that role or if he plans on the team going to a three-guard lineup at times with Ray Allen playing as the nominal small forward.

Why would we trade for Tony Allen after he was a moron and turned down our contract offer? Why bail him out? Serves him right to be miserable in Memphis, so let him suffer for being greedy.

This ship has sailed.  I now feel that MQ brings more to the table for us than Tony.  He is much less prone to turnovers, he has a better shooting touch, his defense is really good (though concededly not in Tony land) and he has a couple of inches on him. Pass.

Only reason I would get Tony, would be to keep him from being traded to the Lakers. I think they expressed interest in him last summer. Their only chance of repeating is through defending like us.  That is how they beat us last season.

No, I would pass, we have a better record this year than with him.   I don't miss him really.   Wallace in Memphis still and he won't help us at all and would ship him to LA before us.  Besides they need a PG.

Some of these bring back TA, Antione threads are funny who is next Potapenko or McCarty?
Huh? We were 20-4 last season with TA. We had a way better record the season before that.

So no, we had a better record with TA. I'm not saying we should get him, but let's not fabricate factually incorrect arguments.

My first interest is JJ, then I'd take Tony second.

+1

Reddick would be the perfect reliever for Ray.

I think we've already got Delonte and somewhat Wafer and Bradley there.  The need is to be able to back up Pierce and Daniels.

So the need is for a 3rd backup to Pierce and Daniels?  I don't consider that very much of a need.  Realistically though there is 0% chance Danny is going to bring back someone he offered the same amount of money but, choose to play in Memphis.

I concur though with the breaking glass in case of Big injuries for Sheed.  And as mentioned it could be done by just cutting Wafer.  I actually think Doc probably already discussed this with Sheed in case Perkins isn't ready for the playoffs.

We only have an often injured Marquis behind Pierce, Delonte is not a viable backup for Pierce and he is always injured too.  So, yeah, I'd take Tony back.  But like I said, my first choice is Redick.

My next choice (either before or after JJ) is Randy Foye, not Tony.  And I'd come up with a pretty list of names just long enough to ensure there's always someone else I'd rather have than TA, as much as I like what he brings.  I'd be calling a lot of teams before Memphis, in other words, though perhaps I'd call Memphis about Mayo...

This is another ESPN trade speculations. One of many more to come. I would Take it with a grain of salt.

Tony defense would be a welcome addition. But I'm not sure Danny wants to reopen that chapter. Its seems to me Celtics have moved on.

I think we may be forgetting just how hard it has been to incorporate even very veteran players into Doc's system mid-season.  Heck, apparently Nate hasn't got a handle on the majority of plays yet.

Therefore TA doesn't necessarily have to be nearly the BPA in order to be the best player to add to the mix mid-season.

Oh, and same deal with Sheed knowing the system.  If they're looking to add another big guy at this point, far better it be Sheed than anyone else.

We'll be 20-4 with a win @ Knicks on Wednesday, just to note.

TA didn't even want to sign with us this offseason due to worrying about minutes AND the possibility of going back into obscurity. How is he gonna find these minutes he desires with us now?

I know everyone loves to talk trade possibilities to improve the team, but realistically we have nothing to trade.  Assuming Shaq Jermaine Perk Semih are all healthy in FEB either Perk or Semih could be dealt before the deadline; but before that not a chance.  The "all healthy" part is also very questionable.

Nate BBD West Marquis are not going to get traded.  Your trade assets are Luke Avery and that's about it.  Not much demand for them and not enough salary to match an established player.

Those guys could be traded for the right pickup. The problem is getting someone better when those guys aren't actually paid that much. Especially West, who has value well above his salary.
