TA on the market?

Here's a report from Marc Stein.  He may be a bonehead, but he's our bonehead?  Any chance Wafer and, say, Luke could be swapped for him?

"Wednesday could (stress: could) be a big day in the NBA. Reason being: There are 108 players who signed free-agent contracts between July 1 and Sept. 15 who become eligible to be traded because Wednesday is Dec. 15.

The reality, of course, is that front-office executives have already been including many of those players in trade discussions in anticipation of the increased wheeling-and-dealing options.

Yet multiple teams also caution that uncertainty about the conditions of the next labor agreement with the players is bound to make several teams hesitant to take on long-term deals ... when they don't fully know the ramifications of taking on an expensive contract.

Here are a few names, bearing all of the above in mind, from the list of 108 summer signees who aren't exactly likely to be moved in this climate but who indeed rank as available based on what we've been hearing: Orlando's J.J. Redick, Dallas' Brendan Haywood and Memphis' Tony Allen."

Interesting ... I'd be surprised if Memphis let him go ... Hollins said he was the deciding factor in last night's game. You never know, however, especially in the present "climate" of the NBA.

Anyone can have one good game.  As most people here predicted, Tony Allen hasn't been playing that much in Memphis.  His mpg is almost half what he had for his career in Boston.  There are teams out there that Tony Allen could get playing time with.  A reserve who, in theory, can play three positions has some value.

I guess it just doesnt seem right to visualize Tony playing on the second unit with Nate and Marquis when we have Delonte. I think he would have to be on the bench behind those three wouldnt he? That puts him at 7th on the depth chart at those three positions. Not really a value for his contract IMO.

I watched the game yesterday and he played well for a brief stint in the 2nd half.  But it was more so due to the Clippers awful play makers throwing telegraphed passes from one side of the court to the other. He's a nice role player that appears to be getting even less minutes on an awful Memphis team.

TA left I seriously doubt they want him back.

Reddick would be the perfect reliever for Ray.

JJ Redick is too expensive (Cs would need to come up with close to $7.5M just to match salary).
The C's needs, IMHO, are at the 4,5, not the 2.  TA doesn't help in that regard.

I think we've already got Delonte and somewhat Wafer and Bradley there.  The need is to be able to back up Pierce and Daniels.

Only if a couple from the O'Neal bros and Semih can't hold up until Perk is back.  But a two-for-one for TA could free up a spot to sign Sheed.

No, I would pass, we have a better record this year than with him.   I don't miss him really.   Wallace in Memphis still and he won't help us at all and would ship him to LA before us.  Besides they need a PG.

So the need is for a 3rd backup to Pierce and Daniels?  I don't consider that very much of a need.  Realistically though there is 0% chance Danny is going to bring back someone he offered the same amount of money but, choose to play in Memphis.  

I concur though with the breaking glass in case of Big injuries for Sheed.  And as mentioned it could be done by just cutting Wafer.  I actually think Doc probably already discussed this with Sheed in case Perkins isn't ready for the playoffs.

If we are going to do a 2 for 1 and come up with 7.5 million then we have to go after Tayshaun Prince IMO. That amount of experience, length and defense would really help our second unit.

Cut Wafer, resign Sheed, send JO, picks and parts to Detroit for Prince.
