I guess i know what Ray has been working on this summer...His 3 point shooting. He was shooting 36% from 3 last season, and now he's shooting 45%. Great to see Ray stroking from beyond the arc again like he used to. 8)

Ray has been getting streakier and streakier.  I think he started out hot last year too, then was horrible until the break before turning it on again.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I agree, and I think it's mostly his legs behind it.  When his legs are tired or sore (like the last half of the Finals), his stroke suffers dramatically.  When he's fairly healthy, his %s are very good.

Also don't underestimate the Shaq effect - having Shaq and KG down low gets a lot of attention, which makes for better looks for Ray.

Ray's shot is so nice. I sat for awhile last night in Cleveland and just watched him shoot. Perfect form.

Bingo. Improved post play has resulted in a lot of standstill 3 point looks for ray as opposed to him working around screens. He only runs about 10 miles a game now instead of 20 ;)

I think we can thank KG being back and Shaq for it.   He is getting better looks and can shoot better.  Teams have to defend us more honest this helps most people shoot better as more talent means more talent to defend.  Unless of course, your LeBron then it means you shoot worse percentages and throw your coach under the bus.

Actually, he didn't "turn it on", but started playing better when the transfer deadline passed, and the speculation about his contract stopped.

Aside from Shaq and his current job security, I also wouldn't underestimate the impact of his continued adjustment to being largely a spot-up shooter coming off of screens.  Each year that he's been here he's gotten more and more comfortable doing this.

It also speaks to the problems that Miami is having.  None of their Big Three are particularly good shooters, so it's not surprising that they're not adjusting well to being spot-up shooters on 2/3 of the plays (or more in the case of Bosh).

What is turning it on if not playing better?

The only thing with this team is to keep throwing it down low to keep defenses honest.

I agree with it being "mostly his legs behind it".  You can have your stroke, but if you don't have your lift you'll be hitting the front rim.
The key is to keep Ray from getting fatigued.

His shooting is up because he is being given so many option shots. When anyone gets double teamed, they can easily find the open man and they are gonna hit the open shot.

Oh Basketball is so simple isn't it? Yes, it is clearly just that easy, that's why everyone in the NBA can just "hit the open shot."

I mean obviously it takes no greater skill to do, since it has nothing do with the shooter, right?...

Holy sarcasm overload Batman!

I think my point was made.
