Spolstra needs to go somewhere else, its like what we argueed here back in 2008 regarding Doc Rivers.

Doc Rivers isnt the best coach in the league but he's most likely one of the few coaches who could coach the 08' Celtics successfully, the sitiuation Spolstra is in right now, he's way over his head regarding ego management.

I do have this nagging feeling that they deliberately trying to lose.Just to have a reason to insert Riley to be their coach again. I feel so sorry for Eric… hey maybe we could recruit him to be our defensive coordinator.

That's a risky proposition if they were doing that, as they could be losing HCA within the first trimester of the season.

I doubt that's what is happening anyway. Their ego's are way too big to take this embarrassment. They would have had a closed door meeting with Riley behind Spoelstra's back and voice their displeasure. That seems more their style.

Their "players only" closed-door meeting after tonight's game probably had something to do with their overall effort.

maybe your right but we're talking Lebron here. The guy who gave up on last years playoffs. He could lit up those stats but those are just sugar coats if he can't lift his team to W against contenders. And his FG% was terrible against the mavs.

The "players only" maybe knock some sense in them but if only they stop blaming others and accepting their own faults. And this should start with Lebron.

On the side note they still look like the best "9-8" on the league right now.

Well, only one coach can be the best in the league, so fine. But Doc may be one of the best in the league.

Thats the thing, we cant really messure a coaches success outside wins or losses! there's just to much intangible stuff that fans dosnt see that makes it near impossible to propperly rate a coach.

What i can do though is look at how Doc Rivers molded his team in 2008, what was said in the timeouts, the locker rooms and the press from that period is alot different from what spolstra is saying right now.

When you have a coach that calls out his 2 absolute Star Players to "drop their ego" at half time against the Celtics, that just screams "DOH" to me, its quite clear that he dosnt get the needed respect of his players and its quite clear that he didnt prep them well enough during the offseason.

About 80% of this, isnt Spolstra's fault.. he's a bright basketball mind but he's in the wrong job at the moment, what he brings just dosnt fit with what the Heat needs.

I thought Megatron's post was a sarcastic one.

That being said, Ill play along.

Spo isnt commanding the respect of these guys. LeBron needs a Phil Jackson or Doc Rivers to check him.

If they are, good. In that case, they're having worse chemistry/mindset/dedication/sacrifice issues than they're getting credit for.

Many professional athletes have a mindset that they can't let themselves lose-- even when playing board games with small children-- because that will soften their edge in the game that really matters.

If that phenomenon really exists, it will bite the Heat.

If anyone in that locker room *believes* that that phenomenon exists, and is currently getting disgusted watching his teammates not try to win, it will bite the heat.

Either way, falling behind in the race for homecourt advantage is never a good thing.

It was bound to happen, but what will LeBron do when this doesn't fix the issues.  I think they are more than a coach away from being a good team.  No bigs, no PG still, no bench of note.

LeBron will continue to blame others and lose.

There are plenty of things wrong with Miami. The loss of Haslem has to do them in ,as far as any title hope, i would THINK. But I just can't understand them using Carlos Arroyo. I honestly believe Miami would be better with many nba d league guys. You know, maybe a point who has a bad offense but at least has a prayer of staying in front of his man. Arroyo is a HUGE HUGE HUGE liability on the court. I think he's much worse than most people even realize.

I think Spo is probably a good coach, too. I've heard many casual sports fans say,"Wow, he's really awful, huh?" Too bad for Spoelestra.

Gotta blame the players on this one and some on Pat Riley.

The roster just isn't good enough due to all the injuries and the scrubs the Heat have on their bench.

Coach Spo isn't the problem, he's the reason they are still over .500 team right now.

I think it's rather obvious this team and coach are having serious issues with each other. Just a very poorly-designed team that brought a whole heap of scrutiny and pressure on them before the season even started. Now every team in the league wants to drill them nightly. Contrast the C's Big # upon coming together "We haven't done anything yet, we have a lot of work to do., etc.", with Miami's "we're thinking 4, 5, 6 championships". No coach could handle those type of egos and pressure. It's hilarious to watch it implode..
