Quite an impressive feat, but to be fair, we've faced 4 teams so far with weak interior defense (yes, that includes the opening-night Heat) that have played off Rondo, giving him room to work.

Starting with the Bucks tomorrow, I expect things to become a lot harder for Rondo in terms of having the freedom to dish out all these dimes.  We won't be facing the Cavs, Knicks, and Pistons every night.

Do they even have Bogut back yet?

Yes, I think I heard they do.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Yes, they do.

Also -

Compare Chalmers / Arroyo / Sessions / Felton to Brandon Jennings.  I have a lot more respect for Jennings' ball-hounding abilities.  He won't let Rondo have such an easy time.

Additionally, the Bucks have some solid shot-blockers down low other than Bogut - Larry Sanders, Mbah a Moute, and even Drew Gooden.

I'm sure things will be similarly tough against the Bulls, too (Rose, Noah).  Rondo might have fewer than 10 assists in both of the next two games.

Jennings has a lot of problems with Rondo.  Rose does as well (though Rondo has his own difficulties with Rose's speed and power game).

Glad to hear they have Bogut back.. Hope he can recover from that horrible injury.

I'm not sure if Brandon Jennings, Drew Gooden and Larry Sanders (Barely getting any time) are going to strike fear into too many hearts. At least not on the defensive end. Jon's posted 15 assists against the Bucks before, granted that doesn't really mean anything but it's happened.

The Bulls might be the first real roadblock Rondo sees.. And I'd still put money on 10+ assists.

He did average a triple double against them 2 seasons ago, and i’d say that Rondo has grown more than The Bulls have. Especially since Boozer is still out.

Are we going to do this after every game? Let me know when he has the regular season record.

To break a tie between Magic and Stockton by 2 speaks for itself...

If the C's continue shooting > 50% FG, he may challenge Sockton's season record.

And how rare was that 100% ft line performance (for the entire team, not just Rondo) last night?

Rondo averaged 9.8 assists a game last year, and 11 a game vs the Bucks. Also 10.8 vs the Bulls.

Obviously there's a long way to go, but what's the chances on Rondo breaking the NBA record for APG in a single season? He's insane right now with his passing.

Record is 14.5 by Stockton...I'd say very unlikely, we don't play very fast and his minutes will probably drop a bit when West returns.

He probably won't set the record, but what he's doing assist-wise is much more impressive than what Stockton did. Stockton assisted about 33% of his team's made baskets that year, and Rondo's at about 44% for the Celts right now.

Rondo will do the same on every game because that is what he does best. Moreover, his overall game performance and assisting will further improve due to the much better awareness of most of his teammates of the plays he directs.

By the way, I kept on reviewing the 3-point buzzer-beater he made just before halftime. The form he displayed reminded me so much of the way Ray Allen makes his jumpers. Is Rondo getting schooled by Ray regarding his jumpshot? From the way  Rajon did his trifecta, I'm getting more convinced that Ray - who has one of the best (textbook) jumpshot - might be the one teaching him. That will be good news for all Celts fans.

The fact behind Rondo's stellar play is that offense looks really smooth, everybody is getting open, pick's are rock solid so I give 50% credit to both Rondo and Doc/guys making shots.

The most impressive part of what Rondo is doing early is what I have been pining for for years and that is his mastery of keeping the game at his pace.

When I think of the playoffs last year, the Celtcs really struggles when Rondo seemes to turn his turbo switch off. As Doc has mentioned, even when the results arent there, Rondo is pushing through and continuing to push the pace. Even on made baskets he is looking to beat the D down the court. it gets open looks for KG and the other bigs like baby who decide to bust it down the floor.

It has been his first option on nearly every play to try to push first and then pull it back to run sets if nothing is there. This kind of relentless mentality will wear teams down. Doc has given him they keys to run the show full time now and it is beautiful to watch.

Perfect example is Paul Pierce. He is scoring nearly 20 ppg and he is doing it EASILY. Hardly any isos. Just great ball movement finding him in opportunistic places on the court where he can use his skills most efficiently.

Obviously its early and obviously I am giddy, but if Rondo can continue to control the pace of game like this, we may be as dynamic offensively as we are defensively.

No but I think any of us that have followed the celtics for a long time need to step back and look at some of our young point guards accomplishments.  To have his name in the same grouping as magic, stockton, cousy, bird....this is pretty amazing.  I have seen every pg the celtics have had since JoJo White, Rondo is special, like KG, like Bird.  His court vision so far this year reminds me of very few.
