You know, maybe trading him for that pick wasn't such a bad idea.
I'll tell you one thing, that 3rd rounder is looking better and better...

Belichick traded a 4th rounder for three years of HOF-level performance during which Moss set the all-time NFL single-season receiving TD record.

The Vikings traded a 3rd rounder for four games, 13 receptions, and one postgame rant.

Jay Glazer is reporting that some Vikings think Childress may have waived Moss because he believed he was trying to get him fired.  Also says the Vikings players were very strongly opposed.

If true, hoo boy - talk about a persecution complex.  And a train wreck of a season.

Releasing Moss wouldn't have saved his job anyway.  Childress is going to get canned soon.

Yeah he was getting fired one way or another, but releasing Moss probably sped it up a bit.  Self-fulfilling prophecy.

It sure sounds like he's lost the locker room.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Numerous news sources are reporting that the Vikings have waived Randy Moss.

To quote Apocalypse Now, "seems they didn't dig what he had to say..."

I thought this was a joke.

Randy Moss was my FRP in fantasy. Cannot believe this.

And hey good news...someone might claim him off waivers..not to use him, but to freakin block a team that actually needs him from picking him up. Awesome.

This is obviously very early to assume and would take a conspiracy of immense proportions but...

If he does make it clear to all other teams that he's only interested in playing for the Pats and will refuse to report to any other team could this all have been a setup and ploy?

I mean it would rival Kennedy conspiracies in this town but I could honestly see it happening. ( The part about him refusing to report to any other team but the Pats) Hes obviously extremely moody and stubborn and you don't want or need a guy like that in your lockerroom especially if he's made it clear he has no intention of being there. And I think it's very realistic to assume he might pull that card.

But what if this was the intention from the beginning? Is that even plausable? The first thing I thought when he was traded to the Vikings was all we got was a 3rd round pick for Randy Moss? That's all? I know it clearly looks good now but at the time I was very disapointed and felt we got hosed in the deal.

What if this was Belichecks intent? Go bananas to the media so it looks like your forcing a trade. Then we get a pick for you. Then go bananas again and force them to waive you due to your already bizzare and unsteady behavior. Then come back to us and make your miraculous comeback putting forth effort and basically selling yourself and your miraculous comeback to the media ala "The Decision". Marketing himself and raising his stock in the process with good behavior and performance on a team he knows and likes.

I'm just saying in this day of media saturation and how players manipulate it I wouldn't be surprised if any of this was the case. And that the Pats being the innovators and top of the food chain if you will should and would be at the forefront. If this was the case some might see it as cheating. (again). But I'd see it as just another brilliant Belecheck Kraft manipulation to keep this team the Alpha dog now and for years to come. I mean it would be brilliant and something I could see them doing.

I know I'm gonna be crucified for this post but I felt I had to share my conspiracy theory in all this Moss madness.

Let's face it, Moss coming back is a long shot.  But at some sort of minimum salary, I don't see how the Pats pass that up.  While they've won with him, their offense (particularly Welker) is clearly not what it was without him.  Even if Moss isn't what he was two years ago, he draws double teams.  And if teams stop doing that, he's still good enough to destroy people.

And at the minimum, they could always cut him.

NFL Network: Vikings file a claim to get their pick back

http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/messageboard/10/690076-vikings-file-claim-draft-pick.html

I've never heard of such a thing. Maybe they'll try to sue Jenn Sterger and Wrangler jeans while they're at it. And try to sue aspirin because it isn't healing Percy Harvin's migraines.
The Vikings are such idiots

It seems like Randy Moss can't seem to catch a break these days.

...well, besides taking a potential break from professional football, though there is the small possibility that other teams might still be interested in signing him this late in the football season. I'm hoping Moss doesn't end up going the 'Allen Iverson' route, though in Iverson's case there is still a chance that he could end up switching back to an NBA team sometime this season seeing as the NBA season is much longer than the NFL's.

If he comes back then we essentially got the Vikings to give us a 3rd AND pay Moss's salary for the year?

He won't clear waivers.

There are at least 5 teams who sources have said have "Very strong" interest in placing a claim. (the ones reported on ESPN: Steelers, Redskins, Chargers, Jets, Dolphins)

I've also heard the rams and chiefs mentioned, The rams as a target for bradford, and the chiefs because he works well with cassell

It'd be a good time for Randy to come out and publicly say that he will be a headache for any team that isn't the Patriots.

While it'd be crazy and drive down his value, he showed last Sunday that he isn't adverse to doing that.

The guy is a little too unstable mentally to be counted on IMO.

I mean what has changed from 4 weeks ago? And if he has changed his mind about what kind of role he would be willing to accept, what makes you think he wont just do another 360 in a couple of weeks.

The guy is entering into the TO crazy WR zone.
