We shall know soon now.  It looks like he's officially been waived.

This is from PFT and pretty much backs up those who feel there is absolutely no way he clears waivers (my feeling as well).

"Boatload" of teams expected to claim Moss on waivers, including Patriots
Posted by Mike Florio on November 2, 2010 4:08 PM ET
With 4:00 p.m. ET come and gone in New York, the official Tuesday waiver wire has been released.  Per multiple reports, Randy Moss officially has been cut by the Vikings.

Since the trading deadline has come and gone, he is subject to the waivers process.  One G.M. told me within the hour that he expects a "boatload" of teams to submit claims.

Of the teams expected to claim Moss, multiple league insiders believe the Patriots will do so as well.

Since the one-loss Pats currently are last on the priority list, the gesture would be the next step in the phony (from New England's perspective) Moss love-fest, aimed at keeping his wings clipped if/when he plays the Patriots again.

In addition to the Patriots, plenty of other teams will be in play.  As we suggested Monday, he fits the Jets' profile for collecting veteran players -- and for tweaking the Patriots.  This dynamic pulls the Dolphins into play, which in turn could prompt the 0-7 Bills to make the only noise they can in the AFC East by using their top position in the waiver process to claim Moss.

We'll know the answer tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. -- or possibly sooner, if the Bills make the claim and opt to let it be known that they have.

I think if Moss makes it known that he does not want to play for any team except the Patriots that will scare teams away from claiming him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Btw, I think Florio is offbase that the Patriots would put in a claim for Moss out of respect.  As the 32nd team, wouldn't they just wait until he clears waivers and then sign up for the veteran-minimum while Minnesota picks up the tab on his old contract?  This is under the assumption (false, IMO) that the Pats would want him back and he would want to sign with NE.

Why?

If he makes hat known and you claim him and he acts like a child and doesn't report or sign a contract, you aren't on the hook for Anything and the Vikings pick up the tab. You've also blocked him for playing for anyone else since you have the wavier rights.

I guess he could be a total mullet and show up, sign the deal then pout, but who cares? Send him home, prorated your on the hook for 2.8 million, and he's gone at the end of the year.

I don't really see this power Randy has over the waiver wire I've heard all day. If I was the jets for instance, and his agent made it known to me that Randy wouldn't be happy being claimed and wouldn't report, I would claim him anyway and say "sweet, then he isn't playing for anyone this year and it's on minnsotas dime."

  • You say when......
I hope the Pats take him back...! He is a deep threat, a great player and reciever, and helps out with good blocks too. Any player who constantly makes other teams adjust the defense...just for him.....he is a player. Ask Wes Welker if he wants him back, ask Tom Brady.....I think they will say yes....he opens up a lot of other options....and I bet he'll be gratefull also....everyone makes career mistakes...imagine if your boss heard EVERYTHING you said, everyone has good days and bad days.....! Bring him back..!!!

The latest is about Randy Moss and food.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AiCuCk.vGMhsu1W6SPJvBwNDubYF?slug=ms-mossbehavior110210

Apparently he really didn't like some food that was being served last Friday.  I don't know what to make of it.

Quote
As is the team’s custom on Fridays, a local food establishment was invited to the training facility to serve a catered, post-practice meal in the locker room. In this case, a St. Paul restaurant that is a favorite of former Vikings center Matt Birk(notes). As the proprietors helped serve chicken, ribs, pasta and other dishes to Vikings players, Moss paced up and down the serving line and loudly expressed his displeasure with the offerings.

According to one player who witnessed the scene, Moss yelled, “What the [expletive]? Who ordered this crap? I wouldn’t feed this to my dog!”

Said the witness: “It was brutal. The truth is, he deserved to be cut after that. It was such an uncomfortable moment. "
Celtics fan for life.

This is way past bizarre, and it's reached the point where I seriously think Randy Moss has something mentally wrong with him.  This incident has been confirmed by several people, including the owner of the restaurant serving the food.  He's also had other past incidents where he has gone out of his way to be a jerk to people, often unprovoked.

Having issues with your coach, owner, or another player is one thing, but going out of your way to treat some random person poorly is whole a new level.  No wonder no one wants him around.

they look 10x better without him.  not worth the risk/headache.

I couldn't take this seriously after that. Randy moss might be the worst blocker I have ever seen, even on the rare occasions he gives it a shot.

The Titans have claimed him.

I'm really surprised. I thought after his latest press conference and being waived, he would look toxic to any team looking to bring him in... Especially at that price tag. At 5-3, the Titans had a lower pick, so I wasn't that off base.  But still, I would have lost money on this one.

I'm curious to see if he shows up.

I'm sure he'll show up, physically anyway. If he doesn't he's out like 3.5 million, but that doesn't mean he put out any effort or not insult people who were kind enough to feed the team. I have to say, when he just watched that pass drop in the end zone last week I couldn't have been happier that he is no longer a Patriot.

Good bye Randy and Good luck Titans.

I have a feeling Titans might do something outside their realm and Get a STAR player. They surely use a star wide-out like Randy Moss. Hopefully the teams in front of them don't claim him. Randy would do wonders for CJ2K who is almost always facing 8 to 9 defender in the box. The thought of it excites me.  ;D I would be [peeved] if Titans pass him up. :(

Called it.
