The reaction of most of you on this thread is baffling to me. I understand that most of you prefer West to Wafer on the court (same for me) and that you want the better player to also be the better man and the one to stay on the team.

But why were so many of you willing to dismiss Kennedy's report because it was leaked from a locker room source, but are willing to now accept the assertion that the team didn't want Wafer on the team at all, he has problems with numerous teammates, etc.?

Even if Wafer did taunt him or whatever, there is no excuse - NONE - for throwing a punch at a coworker. The escalation from words to violence is very disturbing to me.

Waive them both as far as I'm concerned.

Quoted for truth. We're chasing a championship here, not running a halfway house.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Personally I think anyone's speculation on what to do with either player is silly. We know one thing for certain: There was a fight.

Who started it? Who knows. Was it justified? Who cares. Do they happen? Yeah, like...a lot.

Leon Powe used to get into it with KG and BBD. You think Perkins never let his temper get the best of him? Come on. Even Larry Bird wasn't above throwing a right hook at a teammate once in a while.

This stuff should stay in-house, and has in the past. It leaked out of house, allegedly from Wafer's camp. Whatever motivations there may be..they are unknown to us.

So really, what's the big freakin deal? Two guys who play the same position got into it. So what?

Well, just saw this on ESPN Boston - looks like they are ready to move on:

http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nba/news/story?id=5749445

Let's keep both of em' and forget about it. Geez, Delonte ;D

TP for posting this.

Looked like a couple of "tells" from Delonte there...

I think he hates Wafer, but it won't matter after the Celtics waive the guy...

I agree with Indeed Proceed - much ado about nothing - the worst part about this is that it came out, and that is on Wafer or his camp.

I'll be very surprised if Wafer sticks with the team.

absolutely agree. but if wafer is no good on the floor and a distraction off it, why keep him? this is about his play more than the fight. if a better option presents itself at the 3, trade or cut him.

Without running a halfway house, couldn't we keep them both and package them with a pick and perhaps some cash for Rudy Fernandez or some other player in 6 weeks?

Wouldn't it be dumb to just let tradable assets go?

Yes, absolutely, good point!

I still say let's give them both a chance and as someone said, see if Doc can work it out. If anything else happens, well, yes, trade.

If they were trade-able, yes. But they just killed any value they had.

As non-guaranteed contracts, their value isn't in their play...they'd likely never even show at the other team before they were cut.

People are looking too much into this. The NBA is filled with egotistical headcases who fight with each other every day.

We don't even know what really happened. People should not make judgements without more knowledge. It's not fair to the players.

I actually agree 100% with this premise and glad someone posted it. It was a mistake to select Wafer over Lasme in the first place. He just is not the player that Lasme is.

Delonte needs to control his temper though...

i cannot identify a situation in which Von Wafer contributes anything positive to this team, especially since the NBDL is going to be full of players who are replacement level + of Von Wafer
