After reading today that Von Wafer may have tried to paint Delonte West in a bad light, I would like to see him cut from the roster.

I am all for competitiveness, and understand that sometimes tempers flare.  But this appears to be personal...

I want Delonte here in Boston, and I want him to get a fresh start.  I'm all for second chances, and he deserves one.  I don't want Wafer being a negative influence on this team, and by all accounts, it appears he's not needed.

Drop him from the roster and pick Lasme back up.  I want nothing to do with this clown...

agreed. regardless of the skirmish, I'd rather have Lasme's energy on this team. We could really use it.

Drop him yes.

Fill spot with someone that didn't beat him out in camp, no.

I've mentioned this a couple of times, but it seems to be worth repeating...I mean, at least to me...

Cutting him without waiting 6 weeks to find out who has offseason buyer's remorse seems short-sighted.  If his non-guaranteed contract can be traded, perhaps with a pick (late 1st next year or 2nd rounder, depending) for someone better, then let's go with that.

Sure, he could be banished from the team until Dec. 15th, but there's no reason to cut him unless Danny wants to cut off his own nose, too.

i believe delonte's situation is a delicate one.  there are issues (or demons or whatever) he's fighting.  i believe this is a good environment for delonte.

it's not worth 6 weeks of waiting if it means guys will be walking on eggshells, waiting for wafer to do something stupid.

really, is anyone going to crack this lineup?  probably not.  wafer has shown very little, and i don't see him offering much to this team.

if (big "if") he did make some kind of comment regarding delonte's medication, then he needs to go. it's uncalled for, and that's not becoming of a teammate.  i don't see anyone picking him up either...  no loss.

i also believe wafer has had problems in the past, correct?  if so, i'd rather cut strings a bit early than too late.  anyone thinking some team is going to offer us anything worthwhile in return is crazy...

Agreed with Andy.

If this is in fact true, then Wafer needs to either be reigned in or let go. What I mean by "reigning in" is him being fully aware of what Delonte is dealing with.

If Wafer was fully aware of Delonte's situation, then he needs to be let go. You can't do that to a teammate, especially one like Delonte.

A team is 15 players, and you can't have even one with his own agenda.

What about fill the spot with someone who may have beat out Von Wafer if Wafer didn't have a partially guaranteed contract and Delonte West wasn't suspended for the first ten games?

Wafer's contract reportedly had a partial guarantee of 150K, according to ShamSports. Wafer may be on a short enough leash that he's in danger of being cut as soon as the Celtics owe a penny over that amount.  That's 12 games, if the salary only covers regular season games.

With the fragility of the O'Neals, Glen Davis could be called upon to play more minutes as the center.  That means the team may have some need for emergency depth at reserve power forward.  Combine that with a reduced need for SG depth once West comes back and Lasme may just be a better fit for the team's needs in the future if he can occasionally fill in for 5-8 minutes per game at either forward spot.

I agree completely until the point of what to do about it now that would be best for the franchise.  To me, I'd keep him on the roster, but take the nameplate off his locker and send him home to wait for a call.

If course on the 15th, I'd also call and offer to package him with JO and BBD for Emeka Okafor (82/81/82 games last 3 years, career double-double with nearly 2 blocks)...

Yah, you got my vote there brother....! I haven't seen anything from The Wafer yet...and i have been looking too. West is a much better offensive threat, ball handler, slasher and defender than wafer...they are fighting i think because they are there for the same position...we have west, now get Lasme and watch how the rebounds pile up..! (and the inside fouls on the other team....IF the refs call any..!).

Agree 100 percent with the OP. The only question I have is who will get whatever minutes he would have gotten until Delonte comes back?

Wafer's a nice talent, a shame he's, allegedly, such a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.

It would be nice to hold on to him until December 15th and then try to include him in a trade.  The $700k savings from waving him might be a nice incentive for a cash-strapped team to add on to one of our trade-able assets (Baby, Nate, Daniels, Bradley, Perk)

SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon

I'd just drop him after game 10.  He's useless with Delonte on this team.  From what it seems like, Delonte has been fine in the locker room other than with Von Wafer.  I'm assuming the team has sided with Delonte on this if Von Wafer did really release every thing.  I'd prefer to not have the locker room divided at all and it seems like Delonte is meshing with these guys pretty good.  Von Wafer has not been a good basketball player, might as well just get rid of him.

A bit premature to waive him.

Give him a talking to ... a warning over his future behaviour and a punishment (personally, I wouldn't fine him but I would bench him for a couple of games).

Give it time.  Ik in '08-'09 Wafer had a career year, but if his production can be anywhere close to that he will be a steal.

If another one of these problems come up though can him!!!

Delonte was the cause of all this, not Von Wafer. Delonte is a loser if he sucker punched Von Wafer. I don't care if he's mentally ill or not. You can be mentally ill and still have enough class not to punch someone in the back.
Von Wafer needs to be given the benefit of the doubt. Look at Delonte's history.
I was glad to have Delonte at first but if he is this immature and emotional, and classless, he needs to be let go. He's just not worth it.
