He's been doing all the right things save for a couple shots in tonights game.

A lot of times he cuts and seems we can get the ball at him - but lots of times we miss him.

What do you seriously expect from him?  He's an end of the rotation player.  Those type of players are expect to not screw up and buy the starting player a few minutes of rest in each half.  Quis is a player who won't always help you but doesn't really hurt you while he's out on the court.  He's not a 6th or 7th man he's the 9th or 10th.

I like Marquis's work this season. He seemed to lack confidence last year, or was it injuries. He came into the league as a PG. Ironically, nowadays, his best work seems to come within 5 ft from the hoop. He's good at finishing and getting putbacks. Occasionally, he's even shown us some range.

He's not the 9th or 10th man.  If Doc shortened the rotation to 8 players, Marquis would play.

Last night against the pistons, he showed 3 pt range, played very good defense, did his slashing cuts and passed well.  I'd say he was effective.  Only complaint was a few shots he seemed to force right before doc time out which seemed to fix that problem.

Moot point, he backs up one position.

I think impact wise, 9th-10th man is apporpriate.

Nate
Dwest
Baby
the oniel who doesn't start a game

are all more impactful players. That would put MD 9th, going to 10th once both o'niels are on the bench late in the season with perk back

I only was able to watch part of the game, but Quis has one play early on that made me think he's been taking notes from Pierce.  Had the ball near the baseline, maybe 15 feet from the basket, defender got close to him, Quis thrust his arms up in a shot "attempt" but really just initiating contact with the defender.  Foul called, hit both free throws.

Play we've seen Pierce do hundreds and hundreds of time.  Just smart ball - the defender's in bad position, so force the contact since the refs have to call that a foul.

  • It's all about the TEAM!
I thought Quis had a solid game last night off the bench. He looked ready to contribute and he did. Hoping for more of that effort as we continue.

If he can stay injury free and keep paying aggressive he will be a great player for us. I think it is easy to underestimate how vulnerable players feel when they are playing injured in the NBA. PP is able to play through it and that is what makes him great, but is not easy.

C's almost always have 1 or 2 starters on the floor; and when it's all bench players, Quis is usually the 3rd option behind BBD and Nate.  When West comes back he falls even further down the pecking order.  He'll have games like last night every so often, but he's not going to pile up stats on this team.  He's finishing well when he gets the ball and not making unforced mistakes.  Doesn't that sound like the exact opposite of Tony Allen?  He's a major improvement in my mind.

Marquis contributes more on offense when teammates look for him cutting. He may be our best finisher on cuts through the lane that don't involve alley oops.

He still has a horrible 3pt shot though.

Marquis should never take a shot outside 12 feet. If the shot clock is down and he has to… so be it. But he’s really effective on the block and when he’s cutting.

Maybe even using him in pick and roll as the roller? Delonte, Daniels P&R?

For a minute I though I saw some emotion from him last night.  I forget the play, but Quis displayed an energized demeanor after the play that was uncharacteristic.

Does it matter if Marquis Daniels shows emotion and displays an energetic demeanor?

I wish Kyle Korver played for every team in the league.
